TR7IX is what I use. Are you having any issues with the TR6? My car woke up from just a spark plug change from 5.90s 60-130 rolls to 5.60s just changing plugs

we used the ones supplied by the ECS kit but i have seen some sputter at 2nd gear WOT pulls.. i was advised to move to a colder plug at my power level.
btw whats your setup? 5.6s for a 60-130 is definitely moving.. haven’t done mine but id hope low 5s to even higher 4s if the car hooked.

What do the plugs look like? Are you sure the sputtering is from them being too hot? Usually a sign of too hot plugs are Blisters on the insulator tip, melted electrodes, or white deposits.

i havent had the chance to take the plugs out. Not sure what else it could be? It only happens at a 2nd gear WOT pull around 55-60mph.. if i let off and go WOT again it doesnt sputter no knock seen as per ngauge..

I'm looking for a video of my friends RX7 at the dyno LS6 D1SC setup we were running a TR7IX spark plug car would only make 520whp and sputtering from 3500 to 4000 rpls switched to a TR6 and we got rid of the sputtering and gained 120whp. I really think you need to change to a TR7IX.

If it were me I would pull the plugs and take a look at them to see what the porcelain and insulator tips look like… if they are all burning the same or if one or more plugs are different from the rest. I mean it could be a bad plug or coil. I’ve also had a car sputter from plugs that were too cold.

just to update, i installed Tr7IXs and car seems to be running well. No more misfiring.
The original TR6s were gapped to 0.022”. I gapped the 7s at 0.026”. So far so good, however i will definitely go back to copper tips as per my tuners recommendation sometime.

Are you talking about NGK part number 3690? I have a boosted LS7 that I am looking to swap plugs in and wanted to go to the colder range plug.

I run TR7IX's at .028 in my car at 22 Lbs on VPX85 and Methanol. Zero issues but I have some good coils too. Car runs mid 8's in the 1/4. Car idles and drives great. May close gap a tad when I go to a smaller pulley. Reasonably conservative on timing per reading the plugs.

you probably just needed a fresh set of TR6 plugs. going too cold can hurt power levels. stick to the oem coils. they are proven reliable and able to support well over 1k hp. how old are your wires? a sputter that only happens in 2nd at a specific rpm is strange. id try to datalog it cause it could be tune related. i feel if it was a plug issue you would def see it in 4th where the load is higher (more temp). food for thought.
