Default 93 octane going away

My 08 procharger LS3 is tuned for 735whp. It has pump booster and dual nozzle alky control set at 8 flow. The only source in town is going to stop selling 93 when the new owners take over. So my question is will I need a 91 tune? I’m hoping the methanol will make up the difference. It’s a street only car and I buzz it a few times a year in 2nd and third on a back road to about 5500rpm but that’s it.

If you really do run out of 93 I would definitely get the car retuned. I don't think I would rely on meth to make up the octane difference, if the pump fails and you're using the meth for power and not safety you could really hurt the car. Do you have E85 locally?

No one here can answer this. You need to log and scan it on 91. If it is tuned on the edge, needing 93 then yes you need a retune, or at least to knock 1-2 degrees of timing out. If it is not tuned on the edge, and has a big safety margin, may not have to do anything. Plug in your HP tuners, log it, see, and if it shows any issues, reduce timing slightly.

If you don't have HP tuners, then buy it. No one should have a 650+hp modded vette without their own copy to deal with stuff like this.

I’m sticking with gas for now. Appears E85 isn’t consistent and I think I would need pump upgrades etc. id sell it before I’d go to that much trouble. Or go back to pure stock. When I bought the car it came with all the parts to do that.

Can you share what is not consistent on the E85?
I've checked the E content for ~1 year, all seasons (Bay Area, Northern CA). It has always been ~86% E. Obviously, I haven't checked other specs at home (now that I'm retired from refinery operations, LOL).
I realize all fuels have different specs based on climate, altitude and time of year (higher VP in the winter, lower in the summer, etc.). And then California has to have it's own WOKE recipe. Laws by stupid people...

Even if the alcohol percentage is only 27% it is 93 octane. 735 WHP tune is pretty conservative with regards to advance.

Thanks. I can blend my own brew on the conservative side. My dual meth nozzles are big and the boost a pump should be okay with 27%.

Definitely get it back on the dyno and log it with 91 and meth. You may end up with less timing.

The way i read your post - you don't put lots and lots of miles on the car. if that is correct - I'd just buy some octane boost - and run that. If a can of octane boost is $35, and there is enough to treat say 70 gallons (to raise the octane say 3 - 4 points) - your cost is only $0.50/gallon. When you compare that to some of the other costs of ownership (Registration / Insurance, etc. - it's not too pricey ...
