Default New Build - YSI to Twin 72's

I don't post much on here, but thought I would share a build that's currently underway on my C6Z. Like most people I had intentions of just keeping it a H/C/I car, but the mod bug is hard to resist and things continued to spiral. I went from H/C/I to a SBE A&A Ti blower setup which did really well on flex fuel (820whp/720wtq), then I figured the LS7 was on borrowed time so decided to sell that and build a Dart SHP and upgrade to a YSI. The YSI setup is hard to beat (link below) and honestly might have stayed with it, but I drag race a lot and like the ability to control boost out of the hole and by speed/rpm/gear which led me down the path of going twins. Here's a quick run down of the car and I'll try to post pictures as progress is made. The car is staying a 6-speed for now as I like to compete in Banger events and would like to see how far I can take it before going PG or TH400. Anyway onto what matters...

YSI Build: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...2-of-mods.html

Engine:
427ci Dart SHP 11:1 (Diamond Pistons/Boostline Rods)
Brodix BR7/LME Heads (Setting up to rev 8k+)
Plazmaman Intake
LJMS Cam
417 Motorsports water manifold and electric pump
Mechman 240a alternator

Fuel:
FIC 2150's
Aeromotive Brushless 7.0 gpm (inline)
Aeromotive Extreme Flow FPR
12 gal. fuel cell

Turbo Setup:
Borg SXE372's (.91 divided hot sides)
Precision 64mm BOV
Precision 46mm Wastegates
Shearer 2K A2W (Garret Cores)
7gallon water/ice tank w/ Davies Craig 40GPM pump
CO2 Boost Control

Drivetrain:
RPM/G-Force Dogbox
RPM/Wavetrac Diff
RPM 1500HP Driveshaft
Black Magic Defiant Clutch
Hydraulic Staging Brake
Carlyle 15" Conversion

ECU/Electronics:
Holley Dominator
Holley 7"
IGN1-A Coils

Misc.
Stormand Normand 10-point / 8.50 cert cage
No A/C or PS
Relocated Alternator

First stop was a trip to Norm's - this man is phenomenal. Great communication and craftsmanship - look him up on Facebook if you need a cage for your Vette. Start to finish was 2.5 weeks.

Update!!

There was a bit of a saga related to the engine harness that was made to piggyback the Holley to the stock ECU, but it's finally resolved and we got the car on the dyno. Once on the dyno - we spent some time fixing a few boost leaks as the car was flat-lining at 14psi regardless of dome pressure being added. Turns out the gasket for the Plazmaman lid got pushed out due to the hardware they provided being a bit too long and not allowing a tight seal. The Precision 64mm BOV also had a port open that is meant to be capped, which wasn't. We also upped the wastegate springs to ~7psi. You can see in the video below that once the leaks were fixed it was on a mission and spiked to 31 psi before letting out. I'm still on the Holley dual pump in-line setup with an in-tank 450, which was struggling to keep up with fuel pressure demands as boost was ramped in which I'll remedy with a brushless setup over the winter. We decided to leave the car at 18 psi for now and not chase a dyno number especially considering the slipper clutch and not wanting to add a lot of pre-load/arm weight just for a graph and will add power at the track as needed. Based on fuel consumption from the Holley the car is probably making closer to 1350-1400 whp. The clutch is almost like a torque converter and you can dial in your slip which is good and bad and you can see the slip/lock up in the graphs - more results will get posted once tracks re-open in the spring.

31 PSI Boost Spike Pull (Boost leaks fixed - dome not adjusted down = 31 psi boost spike - (1265whp/1125wtq before letting out at 6200 rpm)

Wastegate Pull (~9psi)

Wastegate Pull (~9psi)

Once the cage was wrapped up, I dropped the car off at my good buddy John's shop who own's Koza performance. He's a bad influence on me and my bank account, as he thinks it perfectly normal to cruise around in 1800+whp cars on the street. Anyway, the car is currently there getting close to being buttoned up and hopefully ready in time to compete at the MITM event in St. Louis later this month.

Initial mock up with a different block, but my heads.

Keeping this thing cool is a top priority, so we shoe horned in the biggest radiator/fan that would fit along with Shearer's A2W core.

Next update: wrapping up the hotside and cold side piping, off to powdercoat, shortblock assembly, and setting up heads.

Looks really good, good luck with your build. Can you share details on your steering wheel quick disconnect?
thanks

That's correct - it's an 8.50 certified cage. Car should go a good bit quicker than that eventually, but this will do for now.

Thanks! I'm using an NRG hub adapter and NRG quick release.

Thanks! Yep Holley Dominator. Still waiting on the harness, so this may be the last piece of the puzzle before we can actually get it running

Viking coilovers, AMT monoball control arm bushings, stiffer rear sway bar, removed front sway, 15” tires, boost by speed/gear, and traction control

I usually use a MT stiff wall bias ply 28 x 10.5, but I may try the W version this year. Otherwise I’ll run a 275/60 Radial Pro

Going to stay DBW for now, this throttle body is one that the shop has had good success with and apparently has a stronger motor than the standard silver/gold blade GM units. We may be forced to go cable though if it can't manage blade position under higher boost numbers.

Nice build, I like the cage and turbo layout! Its similar to mine, I used the same manifolds and faced the turbo inlets out towards the headlights vs in towards the intake pipe.

By chance do you have your clutch in hand yet? Seems they are backed up a bit on delivery.

Thank you! Would love to see your turbo layout if you have a build thread anywhere. Depending on how you routed your downpipes, facing outward makes sense. We're tight on space in the middle and still have to mount the big ol' Precision BOV on the underside of the upper intercooler pipe. The downpipes are going to route to the outside and then dump out the bumper in front of the tire.

No clutch in hand yet and we've been communicating with Cale fairly frequently, but like most places he's super busy and trying to get caught up. The clutch and engine harness are my big unknowns right now. The harness I've been waiting on since December...

Saw you reference the 28x10.5W's, that's what I run. They certainly fill the wheel well up better than the regular 28x10's I had before.

Below is an older pic when I had the exhaust turned down thru mufflers. I have since cleaned up the engine bay a bit and made up pipes so they exit through the sides of the cowl hood.
