6 rib belt issues.

6 rib belt issues.
Guys. Would like to hear feedback on yalls setups.
I have a h/c/I D-1 e85 SBE c6z w/ a 4.1 pulley on a 6 rib setup. Car makes 11psi w/ the setup.
Having issues keeping the belt on the car (gone through 2 already) while racing.
Do I need to just go 8 rib, get the A&A procharger bracket or what?

Probably and alignment issue. I ran a 6 rib belt and procharger bracket for a long time without issue. I eventually went 10 rib and got the A&A Procharger bracket because PC doesn’t make any 10 rib stuff but prior to that it worked great.

What’s it doing to the belt? Jumping off the pulley or shredding/breaking the belt, or what? Whatever it is, I agree on alignment being your first step.
Buy yourself a Dayco belt alignment kit and a Gates RPM belt. You can get both of those from Rockauto. I would bet good money that a 6 rib RPM belt will stretch less than a regular 8 or 10 rib, and, IMV, with a 4.1” upper, a six-rib should get good grip and hold up fine, once the pulleys are all properly aligned.

Issue happened doing hwy pulls beating on the car. I drive the car often and beat on it every now and then normally. That what makes me feel like it’s not an alignment issue. I feel like during hard shifts it could possible be “jumping”.
It was completely off the pully and I lost 1 rib this time.

Your pulleys don't care if you feel they are lined up. It is quick and easy to actually measure, so start there. What you are describing is almost always alignment. If it isn't that, misadjusted tensioner or not enough tensioner.

Was also looking to go to a A&A bracket or 10 rib to get rid of potential slip. Also to be able to really tighten down that tensioner to get better belt wrap.

Pulls on dyno don't tell you if it is aligned, measure it.

Agree with what Unreal said.
Scratch what I said earlier about the Dayco alignment tool. I tried using mine this afternoon and it was a waste of time. Some pulleys are too big and some too small for the tool to sit properly and squarely in the grooves. About the only one that it worked on for me was the power steering pulley. Sheesh.
BTW: I’ve seen belts jump off where the tensioner is too close to the stop from the belt not being the right length and it slams against the stop when you hit the limiter. I had a spring tensioner jam in the fully closed position like that once, and the belt came right off. Had made many runs before with the same setup with no issue.

You have to shoot from multiple angles. If you are only doing one, you are not getting everything measured. The pulley can be good on one axis and off and on another. In, out, toed in, toed out, the top of the pulley can be leaning in or out, etc. It takes multiple checks.

the gates alignment tool has always worked great for me, it's a bitch to get calibrated though

Im about to be in this same situation......how are people making all the adjustments? Is it the pulley or the bracket that is being adjusted? Sorry, first time changing/aligning pulleys

I do hwy pulls in mine without any issues, It would slip, but also have the a&a bracket and gates rpm belt pushing about 10lbs thru an stroked ls6. A blast to drive.

Alignment yes, def check.... but also if its between shifts like that what BOV are you using? ... my old "turkey caller" one wouldnt seem to let go of the pressure fast enough and it would skip... i upgraded to a tial WHOOOSSHHh and no more problems ... just a thought it you are aligned
