Default Who is running shaft-mounted rockers on the street?

Who is running some Jesel or T&D shaft mount rockers on their street car? Both companies advise against it for durability reasons but I know some of you are doing it. Any expierences to share?

I have Jesel J2K's. I hadn't heard that about the durability. I have had some issues with mine but in looking into it it seemed to be due to the pushrod cup (Chrysler style pushrods) contacting the rocker body.

Personally I would stick with stock rockers. I got a deal on my heads which came with the Jesels which is the only reason I have them.

I was doing it. Jesse alum body rockers with a solid roller.

Broke two or 3 of them at separate times. But at least they were easy to replace, and fairly cheap.

80 bucks a piece.

Over the course of a year.

I've heard the steel crowers are probably the best bet for a shaft mount that holds up to street use.

This is correct but I still wouldn't do it unless the street use is limited.

Yes supposedly you're just trading longer rocker life for short life of the rest of the components. As the steel doesn't absorb the harmonics and such as we'll as aluminum.

Fran, I am a fan of the stock rockers, but I was offered a great deal on some shaft mounted units so I figured I would ask. After talking to Richard @ WCCH, I think I am going with some BR7 heads and standard rockers.

That is where most people who know what they are doing with cams set it for an LS7

I think it has a lot to do with cheap spring kits at that lift range.

Springs and hardware for .714 lift had to have cost me over 1k

What are the advantages of the BR7 heads and OEM Rockers? What valves are you going to run?

Thanks,

Thanks,
The BR7 heads are much better suited to forced induction applications. They are a 6-bolt design and have a much thicker deck than the OEMs. Both allow for much better sealing of the headgasket. The LS7 rockers have been proven to work on high HP applications and are relatively cheap to pick up. They are attractive due to the performance-per-dollar they provide.

When I had my heads assembled, I had them use new Del West Ti intake and stainless steel exhaust valves. I plan on turning 7200rpm with OEM LS7 lifters as well.

That makes a lot of since for a boosted motor. What material does Brodix use for the valve seats? My only concern is compatibility with the CrN coated Ti intake valve.

I am using the VS 805 seals from Brian Tooley's PAC 1208 kit. WCCH said it is what they use with Ti valves so I trust them.
