Default What's it take to get into the 8's on D.R.'s?

So far I have a ECS built grand sport making 780 rwhp on a 6l80E. The car has ran mid 9's on drag radials with this set up.

Mods are:
ECS Novi 1500 kit
Alky kit
Custom cam
Stock bottom end
LT headers and mid pipe
ECS built transmission (Blew up and in the process of being rebuilt...Again...)

What do I need to do to bust into the 8's on Stock size rims and drag radials?

A lot more power than 900 whp if you have 19s. IMO

Drag pack, drop the stock axle back, remove the passenger seat, a 1.45 60', and a 125 shot.

For starters those wheels are not helping at all. You can run a 16 when at the track and switch back to 19 when on street.

The reason behind this is cause I want to drive my car to the track and I want it to run 8's as it is without switching wheels and tires.

I run streets with 17s. A lot more traction than the 19s.

I have done it plenty of times... Just need the right combo.

This car has ice cold AC and is on an 18 inch drag radial. Since video car has gone 8.69. more times coming on friday at cecil.

Also your combo will be close to doing it but that trans will never go 8's

Your car is what inspired me to do this.

Drive to the track on a 15. I will and plenty of others do.

4l80 or PG swap, good convertor, and ~950-1000rwhp with good traction should do it.

I can absolutely respect that. Having a goal with challenges makes it all that more exciting when you accomplish your goal.

If you could make a small change at the minimum I would go with an 18" wheel/tire combo and a larger blower.

That should put you right on the door of 8's.

The bigger blower and the extra 150-200rwhp is going to need a lot more than just a bigger blower though. Bottom end, fuel system, etc.

I would imagine the fuel system and all the supporting items etc, goes without saying to support the increase in hp.

But then again, the op didn't say he wanted it to last.

True.

People saying just slap a bigger blower and tires on, it isn't that simple. There is a lot of supporting parts to do it.

Would be like saying take a stock vette, slap a Ysi, glide and some tires and you have an 8 second ride. It is a bit more complicated than that.
