They don't count if they aren't repeatable by others.

Does somebody know if you could use a 6r80 out of a mustang in a corvette, I know it's similar to a 6l80.

Come on Fran, think big. Could you? I'm sure it "could" be done. Swap in a solid axle rear, motor plate, run the tranny up front, a bunch of billet adapters, find an aftermarket or build a controller, etc. Could it be done for less than $40k? Probably not.

Anything can be done with enough money.

Hey if people can put a 4l80 into a corvette, why not a 6r80. I know it's not been done, I just didn't know how similar it was too a 6l80. There are quite a few new mustangs in the comma club with stock transmissions.

Because 4l80 is just a bit different than a 4l60 which was offered in 1997-2005 vettes so the parts are out there to adapt. A 6r80 only has 2 cases, one for truck and one for stang, neither of which are transaxle cars. They don't have the input/output shafts, or any way to remotely bolt to the diff in a c5/c6. The fact that the corvette transmission is in the back and bolts to the diff really limits options. It isn't just adapting it to the motor and a custom mount/driveshaft.

I have a 6r80 in my 2012 gt, great tranny.

We were the first to do the 4L80.... also if you want to invest that much money why would you bother with a 6r80? Way better trans out there.

It was built by Century. Finally got it to shift perfect. I was about to give up on the transmission, but I reach out to Patrick Guerra and told him what was going on. He sent me a transmission tune that made night and day different on the shifting and got rid of the flares. He guarantee me if he didnt fix it with the tune, I didnt own him anything. Then couple days later I paypal him the money after he fixed it. Anyone with flare or transmission issue contact PatG!!

Besides the 4l60, 65, and the 4l80, Ive seen a few with powerglides but never seen a c6 with a turbo400.. Seems like a great option for someone looking for strength, have more then 2 gears, and not break the bank.. why arent people putting th400s in c6s?

What about these guys:

http://www.transmissioncenter.net/6l...arts_6l90e.htm

They advertise that they have done 6L80s in Camaros that are running in the 9s and a ~1500hp Vette that ran 217 in the Texas mile. They seem to go through the entire transmission with upgrades for everything, including tuning, and their top shelf 6L80 is rated for 1200HP for less than half the price of a 4L80 conversion. Judging from the amount of detail they go into on their site, they seem to certainly have extensive knowledge of the 6L80. Is there anyone on here running one of their transmissions?

Not running their build but I did buy some parts from them and have spoken with Blake there. He seems very knowledgeable. I know that their poster child car, a 9 second Camaro finally did blow the trans and went 4L80.

Plenty of th400 cars done.... Not sure why people get stuck on the 2 gear thing.... 3rd gear in a th400 and 2nd in a PG are still 1:1 ratio

How much did that tune run you? What handheld tuner or software did you have to use? Autocal, HP?

I've been getting a nice little flare from 4-5. I'd like to know if a tune can possibly fix this issue.

Now that your tranny is running right would you still want to convert to the 4l80 over the 6l80? And would you recommend a century built tranny with the tune you recommended for a car with 800 hp?

I'm sorry guys. It may appear I'm not listening. I'm just having a hard tone converting my car into a 4 speed drag car. I'm interested on some feedback on the phenix tranny from someone who has one.

With all the money and time spend. I would do a 4l80e in the first place if I could do it again

Depends how long this 6l80e will last. If I can get 20k miles out of it I'll recommend it. If not then no.
