Default :: ProCharger Announces new MASSIVE Race air-to-air Intercooler for C6 Corvettes ::

ProCharger is happy to announce the release of its Race air-to-air intercooler for use on high horsepower C6 Corvettes. If your making 700, 800, or even 1000+ HP, this intercooler has you covered (and then some). Track-tested on the drag strip and the road course, this massive intercooler is ready to perform. So if your intercooler is getting choked up from more CFM flowing through it than it was built to handle, creating a bottleneck that limits your boost, this is your solution.

(Race Intercooler, and HO Intercooler)

The core of this monster intercooler features a massive 4.5″ thick core section for maximum cooling area and low restriction. To make this possible, a custom bar and plate core is manufactured right here in the USA, designed to not only have great cooling abilities, but also the lowest pressure drop possible. Further flow enhancements include tapered, lightweight sheet-metal end tanks, and 3.5″ inlet and outlet connections.

(Race vs. HO Intercooler Inlets)

This C6 Corvette Air-to-Air Race intercooler was designed to be a “drop-in” replacement for those already using the HO ProCharger intercooler. All existing brackets, tubing, inlet, hardware transfer over to the new Race intercooler for easy installation. Absolutely NO modifications to the Corvettes body or frame are needed this this installation, making it 100% reversible.

(Intercooler installed, with cover removed)

So if your Corvette is pushing high HP levels, and/or being used in situations where long duration WOT pulls are common (1/2 mile or 1 mile races) this is your intercooling solution. Please contact us at 913-338-2886 or at sales@procharger.com for more details, or to get in touch with a local dealer.

PART NUMBER: AIGO3A-003
RETAIL PRICE: $1,395

*Custom oil cooler mounting needed for cars equipped with an oil cooler

Hard to say. I know on the intercooler I have people have made 1300+hp no issue. I have no IAT issues. That being said, I like big shiney things. They should have made these with 4" outlets, or offer them that way since ECS and A&A use 4" outlets and 4" upper pipes. I think this is aimed for people who have procharger kits that want to upgrade.

I think they are 4". The plug and play is done with reducer silicone couplers.

The initial post says 3.5" in and outlet.

Would be interested if they have the brackets/etc to use this with other kits, or how it mounts. Would sell a lot more of them then.

The 3.5" was picked, since it is the same size as our current "outlet" tube going to the throttle body. If a person wants to have 4" flanges welded on by their local speed shop, surly that wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Figured you might say that.

It will make a nice addition to your already stellar combo.

Our biggest goals were 1) make it an easy drop in for existing ProCharger system equipped cars. 2) make sure it had huge FLOW, so that cars making big power, would instantly see a boost increase (and HP) by taking the load off the blower, from stacking boost pre intercooler.

NOTE: For customers buying NEW systems The retail cost for the upgrade to this intercooler is $345 at time of purchase.

Brackets should be pretty easy for the end user to make up. Just a couple pieces of flat metal, and some bolts and spacers. (Bolted off the cradle)

Wont the added thickness of the intercooler have a negative effect on cooling since it will fit closer to the radiator? Kind of a reverse bigbollas mod?

I will gladly test it with my thicker dewitts radiator if procharger wants a test monkey.

Mike, we rented the Heartland Park Road course for (3) separate sessions, took this car out in various temp conditions (one day it was 72, another was in the upper 80's, and again in the lower 90;s) trying to get this C6 to overheat on the road course.

The car was our standard C6, with no modifications other then an i-1 system (makes right at about 580rwhp) and even with the flat boost curve on the i-1 (which obviously creates longer heat cycles, then a standard centrifugal blower) we never saw over 30 degrees over ambient inlet temps, and never had one ounce of engine overheating.

***Honestly the only issue the car ever has on the road course is brake fade from the stock brake system when running long sessions. We have upgraded Pads, and the best fluid money can buy, but still we have to pull the car in when the fade starts getting bad. The stock C6 brakes just aren't up to long sessions. (Note, our C7 with only upgraded Fluid and stock pads has not had any fading issues on same course, same power level, similar lap times)

The intercooler is larger (thicker) however the air gap between the radiator is still there at the bottom, as is the flap that directs air up into that gap.

For guys that are not road racing, they REALLY won't see any issues, other than a nice gain in HP/Boost/Lower IAT's

Thanks everyone,
ATI

Yes it does, give Grant a shout.

There are at least 5 cars here on the CF that I know of that would really benefit from this intercooler. I can confirm that I believe one of them already has it coming to them, or it will be soon. (turbotuner20v)
