Default How many will remove their super/turbo before selling/trading in?

I want a to supercharge my 13 g/s bad but I only have around 2 k to spend and after a few months from now I will be buying a house so the $$$ will be gone.
I am hoping to find a used supercharger or turbo kit cheap because a lot of c6 owners are trading in for the new c7.
How many of you will be removing before you sell or trade in?
Which style should I look for and what should I look out for?
I original wanted a rear mount turbo system, but the price is high and I love my duel mode exhaust.
My 2nd hope was a roots style , but they seem to cost more and be harder to find then a used a&a kit.
The cheapest I found so far was $3,500.00 . Do you think any complete kit will sell for less?
I wish I could find someone to trade a kit for body/paint work but no luck so far.

$3500 will be the bottom end for a complete kit. Be careful because these things can really nickle and dime you even if the seller says it is complete.

It really depends. I am not selling mine but if I was trading for sure it would go back to stock. Private party I would try to sell as is at first. Mods don't add value most of the time. Would come down to if I could get more together or separate.... allotting a little of course for my time to go back to stock.

I'm sorry to tell you but you are going to have to save more money. If anyone is going to take the time to remove their supercharger they will sell the kit for what it is worth. I've never seen a whole kit listed for under $3300 on here.

I got a used APS TT kit that I am about to install and just the install/gauges will be more than what you have for a kit. Unless you plan on installing it and tuning it yourself.

Also, quality TT car will sell for more vs. NA most of the time.

SC are more common and cheaper and cheaper to install so keep an eye out for those. I think one just posted in the FS section.

I plan on installing it, having it tuned.
There is a a&a self contained with gauges and pump booster everything include I been trying to come up with the 4k to buy or get it cheaper but no luck.
There also it a new in box edelbrock kit for $3,500.00 that no one seems to be interested in.
I keep checking everyday.
Any place else I should keep a eye on?

$2k is your budget ??? Really?!
You should seriously recalculate before you attempt to go Forced Induction.

Congrats on the '13 GS. You are not going to find a ready to go supercharger or turbocharger kit for $2k. I would recommend increasing your budget or continuing to save money.

Is this your daily driver? No one ever intends for things to go wrong, but you mentioned that the money will soon be gone. What is going to happen if your transmission breaks or your engine gets damaged? Have you budgeted for fuel system modifications, a tune, new tires when the other ones wear out quicker?

It's not easy to think about, but you have to be able to afford the unforseen things that can happen in addition to the cost of the supercharger kit.

No its not my daily driver not that it would matter , I drive my 55 chevy with a 1200 hp blown big block everyday in the summer..not that I drive far.
That polished 671 that I bought all re-built cost me $2k!
No Im not counting tuning and install , just a complete used kit .
It would be great to have both cars with blower sitting on top of the motors but for my budget Im not getting fussy.
I could spend up to $3k but it has to need nothing extra .
Right now is my only chance to do it as Im moving in a few months and plan on dumping all my money in the new house for a long long time, also Im not working because bad back surgerys and its winter, so Its not getting driven and I have noting to do but wax my cars and take my pain meds.

671 and 871 is just bolt on nothing like the complex kits that were designed for the LS

Assuming you install and tune

Finding a complete kit for 2k will be near impossible to find unless someone is dumb and no idea what these kits cost

The gauges alone I just picked up cost 500 alone (used)

You could try to install this 871 on your car for 1800 from MA You would be one of the first

I have seen a newer mustang and Camaro with that done and it looks cool, but not my style.
I know, that the only thing I do not like about a modern car is everything's complex and expensive.
I can trouble shoot and repair anything on the side of the road on my classics.. but the vette would probley not be on the side of the road in the 1st place.
Im selling my stock hood, top, spoiler to get my budget up.

Have you considered financing? A couple of the vendors will finance the SC kits, which is one of the reasons that pushed me over the top. In the end I didn't finance, but it is a nice option.

Otherwise, put some WTB posts everywhere you can and keep on top of them, and perhaps you will get lucky and find a deal. As you can tell from the responses here, deals are few and far between so you will have to work hard to find one, then be ready to pounce immediately if you do.

Good luck! Love the '55 - looks great!

Well, it's the right brand and model IMHO , and seems like it has little mileage and may be worth the risk.

Is yours manual or automatic? If auto, I'd call Josh at A&A and see what else may be needed for the conversion from LS2... If manual, it may be more major as you have the dry sump would need the upgrades.

I can attest that the A&A V3-Si would be fun as heck on your car!

How much is an A&A kit new?
I only paid $5100 for my ECS kit brand spanking new and shipped to my door. I'm quite sure that the base A&A kit is cheaper than the ECS ... at $4200 for used, I'd pony up the cash for a new kit.
