Default Texas Invitational Spring 2014 Registration & Info

Corvette Forum, thank you for being a repeat media partner for TI again.

General: The Texas Invitational - our Nation's premier high caliber airfield automotive exhibition. The event is held over the course of two days and includes three competitive classes. Classes include the coveted King Of The Street, 6 Speed Challenge, and Grudge Matches. Drivers select and enter a class when completing registration forms. Drivers setup Grudge Matches online in the TSS Forum. Driving takes place on two lanes of a closed-off airfield runway near Dallas, Texas. The driving area is a straight line with defined start, starting mechanism, finish line, and independent MPH speed traps display. Apart from driving, all of the participants enjoy the event on a social level every night with the group at local restaurants and the host hotel by its lakeside bar. TI is your exclusive venue when it is time to go toe to toe with the fastest street cars in the country and make lifetime friendships with like-minded automotive hobbyists.

Dates and Schedule: The schedule for our next event will be NEW. First, the next TI will be held on the weekend of April 12th, 2014 in Caddo Mills, Texas. Rainout date will be the first clear weekend thereafter. On Saturday gates open at 8:00am, we will have a driver's meeting at 9am and have an open session from 10am to noon. During this time we will record MPH for your speed index, which is then used to organize the class competition ladder. Your highest speed will be the speed index for rest of the weekend. At noon, we will break for lunch. At 1pm Grudge Match Heat 1 starts followed by the 6 Speed Challenge. Runway shuts down at 5pm. On Sunday gates open at 8:00am, we will have a driver's meeting at 9am, followed by an Open Session starting at 10am. After that, Grudge Match 2 and 3 are held. At noon, break for lunch, hold our last Grudge Match after lunch and then start the King of the Street Competition. Runway shuts down at 5pm.

Driver Registration: Click on the following Online TI Registration Link and complete the online form. There is no form to download and send back in. Click on the following link to read TI Rules. You are encouraged to go above and beyond tech requirements voluntarily. It's up to you to wear a fire suit, install a roll cage, fire extinguisher, engine diaper, HANS device, belly pans, drive shaft loops, and so on. These are extra steps you can take to make your experience safer. Safety is in your hands alone so take it seriously. Once you submit your registration packet, selected drivers will receive an invitation and non refundable invoice of $255 per driver plus $40 per guest. Driver fees including your event t-shirt, vinyl numbers for your car, and wrist band for entry for you and your guest.

Media. Taking pictures and video at the event is fine. After the event posting up event media anywhere online is fine. Make sure to include all sponsors in your videos. If there are any mishaps, have some decency and respect for your friends and put the cameras away. Media capitalizing on another's misfortune, like an accident, without their consent is for vultures and *******s.

Host Hotel. MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS NOW. Most central location will be at the Hilton Hotel in Rockwall, Texas. Located on Lake Ray Hubbard, the Hilton is close to the event location, restaurants, and offers waterfront view rooms. If you want to know more about the area you can click here. Click here for the online Hotel site. Hotel address: 2055 Summer Lee Drive in Rockwall, Texas 75032. 214 771 3700.

On Site. Similar previous events we will have a dedicated police crew, fire crew, EMS, clean up crew, porta potties, and hand wash stations. If you hear a pop, bang, see a loss in oil pressure, or anything else not normal from your car while driving on the airfield please stop your vehicle in your lane as soon as possible. Failure to stop your vehicle in your lane when spewing oil will only cause clean up delays. Never change lanes if you are spilling any fluid because that will require a monumental clean up effort and likely a lane or track closure. On the other hand if your vehicle catches on fire pull over onto the grass. The fire crew can then take care of your vehicle and attend to any grass fire.

Driving Procedure: Vehicles will be called to line up at the grid. If you fail to grid once it is closed, you will be disqualified. There are no exceptions or excuses getting to the grid late, you are now forewarned. The grid master will release you down the side of the airfield in a single file line to the taxi lane where you pair up. From there vehicles are signaled to line up and do a burn out. Keep your eye on the traffic light as it will be red. If you are ready to go give the starter a thumbs up. The light will change to yellow and at that point begin pacing to 60mph (or whatever speed you have mutually agreed on). Don't wait for the person next to you to leave, just get up to 60mph and hold. We will have a green flag zone set up. If you are not side by side in the green flag zone you will receive a red light, at which point you need to stop and turn around. After one red light you will receive a lecture from the starter. If you are side by side in the green flag zone you will receive a green light and you are free to accelerate at will to the finish line flags. After the checkered flags, slow down immediately. If equipped with a chute, the smarter guys will drive through chute deployment so weight transfer is smooth. Always yield to the vehicle on your RIGHT before turning around. Do not drive past the cones at the end of the field. When in the taxi lane returning back up maintain a minimum speed of 80mph. Unless directed otherwise, return to the pit area after your run.

Prior Media.
