2013 Grand Sport hits the track with ECS! Novi 1500 ECS built A6 9.78 @ 140
For those who have followed this build in another thread, we held onto the car for an extra week so we could bring it to a track rental before releasing the car to the owner so we both knew it was spot on.
The car ended up pretty much exactly where we thought it would end up so naturally we were pretty happy with that. I predicted 9.5's but we had some pretty bad traction issues in first gear as you can see in the video, so with a proper traction I feel a 9.5 would have been no problem.
mod list;
Base ECS Paxton supercharger kit, no restrictor plate.
ECS small blower cam
ECS stage 1 fuel system
meth injection
AR headers
ECS built A6 trans with a 2600 stall converter
18" MT drag radials
I have a had a lot of interest in what we do to beef up the A6 trans so I give a basic break down of what is done. The intermediate shaft of the trans is replaced with a hardened shaft, along with power glide clutch packs installed. A few of the internals are replaced with billet pieces over the stock cast, and a there is some welding to housing to strengthen them.
We do not offer different levels to these builds, this is the only way we will build them, all or nothing so to speak. However the shifting is great on this car and we have been very happy with how these come out.
These are "in house" builds only unfortunately though, the tuning is such a great part of getting these correct that for now it's how we have to do them. maybe later on down the road we can work on sending tuning, or if you are one of our distributors we can work on getting the tuning nailed down with you so we can ship these out if needed.
This particular car has a little over 200 miles on it now and still has the plastic on the seats, it really drives like a dream and can be driven across the country if you chose too. With the NPP closed it drives like stock, but lay into it and hold on!!
This build from start to finish can be turned around in roughly one week, this one took a little longer because some parts that had to be ordered were added along the way, but if anyone is interested in something like this we often work with the guys at Kerbeck who can deliver a car here for the build and a week later we can ship to your destination anywhere in the world.
Thanks for your interest!

Wow. What a build and turned around in a couple of weeks. It's absolutely amazing what a GREAT shop with a COMPETENT staff can do with one of these cars A6 tranny and all. Congrats on the great build and a really nice car. I'd bet the price was reasonable for the results as well. Great work gentlemen.

Yes the price was well worth it......your getting a lot for your money....
im in Cincinnati and we have a few good shops here but i wanted a great shop and thats what i got when took my car 600 miles from home. I did a lot of research on the A6... i dont want to fool with rebuilding a trans in a year or less if your on the fence about the trans i would just build it and be done.... that transmission shifts like mad just listen to the vid. I know guys who have the stock A6 some live and some dont.. 50 to 100 passes
i dont want to have that anxiety. Its all in the tune really its hard to know who truly knows what they are doing when it come to tuning the A6 IMHO
I think Doug has the magic dust i obviously trust him with a car that has a mere 200 miles miles on the odo. Its really a no brainer if you want a 700 plus hp car. I made the correct choice for what im going to do with the car. Knowing me i will drive this thing to a few shows and sell it to a guy who wants complete package with no worries with a transmission that will take the power that this car makes. Plus it has room to grow.
Doug ..... i hope your future customers make the correct decision by doing this very special upgrade when building a big power car. Now lets get the V and the ZL1 going

Good times ahead
Doug,
Do you have a link or listing somewhere of your track rental dates? I need to plan ahead as I have a 350 mile drive to get there. Who knows maybe londonk Chris and I will meet up enroute (as he'll be comin down the pike through Pittsburgh) for a head to head day to see that 2600 stall difference.
RichS sorry to hear your A6 is giving up the ghost. I know you race it often from our conversation that day at ECS.
Looking forward to seeing you in the 9's when you get her done
