LS9 (ZR1) Cam Questions?
I was looking at this cam for my blower car. A friend told me the cam would not work because it does not have a reluctor wheel on it for the cam position sensor to read.
Does anyone know anything about this statement?
I was told he tried it in his truck and it kept throwing a cam position sensor DTC code.
Thoughts?

The gen 3 motors have a reluctor on the back of the cam for the cam sensor. Gen IV motors pick up the cam signal off the cam gear up front. He can't use it because he was probably a gen 3 motor trying to use a gen 4 cam. A gen 4 motor can use either since it picks up off the cam gear.

He can use this cam in an early engine. You will have to change the timing chain cover and reroute the harness to the newer design engine. It is a simple conversion, I have done it on C-5 Vettes. Search and you will find what parts you will need. Contact Texas Speed and they will have everything you need to convert to the front design camshaft sensor.

I had one in my car. It ran well, drove like a stock cam with the lsa, and low lift. I gained a little power over my stock ls3 cam, but if if I could do it again, go with a proven baby blower cam or spec one yourself. Get a little more lift, a little more on the intake side and put it on a 116-118 to keep the idle quiet.
Here is my car after the LS9 cam.

I've got one in my car for almost 2 years, no problems. If I'd had more time for research before installing it, I probably would also have gone with an aftermarket blower cam too, but it would had to have near stock idle quality. When I de-mod the car to sell it, I don't want to have to pull the cam.
