MT vs NT05R Drag Radial Street Use
I have done extensive reading of all threads involving these tires. I want to open this subject again with a new thread. I have 700rwhp with 6 speed manual. 345 Nitto invos spin in first three gears. I have no real desire to track the car. I just want to put as much to the pavement on the street as possible. The 2 options on the table are MT ET Street radials 345/35-18 and Nitto NT05R 345/30-19. Which tire will do the best job of hooking up on the street only getting warm through spirited driving? In other words no big purposeful burn outs to heat the tires. Thanks.

Mickey Thompson 345's are better for launching and sprited drives, the tire has more rubber and can run at a lower air pressure without any moving around, the Nitto's are also good but has less rubber, it hooks pretty OK but the Mickey hooks better.
I still run both sets sometimes, although I am trying to sell the Mickeys with CCW 505A Rims, both for the Z06/GS or Wide Body fitment, I am only selling it because I also have a drag Package for my car.
Now at this temperature nothing will hook, its only in the summer.

Burning Brakes
I've had both - got 11K miles out of the Nitto's on stock 19x12 wheel. Traction was decent but nothing too great. Dropped down to 18x12 rear wheels with MT 315-30-18 and the traction is much better on the street. Have 7K miles on the MT's and they still have tread. Have had them both in the rain with no issues. Even this morning it was 38 degrees on the way to work and they were fine to cruise on. 675rwhp Z06.

I had MT ET Street IIs on my Mustang in 305s. Hooked up well once you got on it and they lasted a while. Only issue I had was once they got wet they where useless. I hydroplaned at 50 with decent treadlife on them.
I had an article on both of them... think the Nittos actually ran slightly better at the track but they liked the longer burnouts.

Yup, I am with you on that point. I just want to get the best I can. Right now as soon as the boost comes in the tires are gone. Getting past 1/3 to 1/2 throttle is impossible. One of these tires should make this situation much better. I am leaning towards the MTs.

Well my brother-in-law just let me borrow his set of MT 345/35/18's.
Though I have only used them once, I am not sure how much better they will hook for you. I have 100 less horses than you through an auto and they will not hold 1st. 2nd is better, but can still spin them and 3rd gear and up is good to go for me.
This was at 18psi hot in 80 degree weather.
Also, I don't know if it is caused by me running the runflats up front, but they felt a little squirly at times.

Just my experience with both ran the 19' NTO5R's and were good at first, but after the first 100 miles or so were totally useless! Bought some used Mickey's 345's 18's and well still doesn't hook, but only hazes the tires and is controllable so the Mickey's worked a lot better IMO! GL!

Slo-Poc has both so maybe he'll be in here to post his opinions.

I like both tires, obviously the MTs are more "street duty" than the Nittos imo. Nitto are great but seam to wear just the same. Nittos are more for "streetability", long road trips, C&C, track days etc. Can't go fast on corners with the 18s, sucks...............Go with MTs

I could spin the Nitto's on motor with my old C5. MT made huge difference.
I personally believe Nitto's are garbage for on the street brawls or stomping on it in 2nd gear with 500 rwhp or more.
Rain driving.... Ok Nitto's are better
