Default I have changed from stock APS GT3071 turbo to Precision PT5830.

This is almost direct fitting change. I did use 3’ compressor cover. I have 402 cid so stock APS turbo came in on early RPM and they did fate out about 5600-6000 RPM. I have 3’ inlets and 3’ downpipe. I´m on early stage retuning and so far I’ pretty much using 15-18% more fuel at same psi and RPM than before so that mean quite more HP than be for. There is big difference in the power band. Car is much stronger on lo rpm and at 3200-3600 rpm at 12-13 psi in 3 gear on me 345x18MT it starts to spin like on ice. Now I have power all the way to 6500 rpm. This is like whole new care to me. I will need softer spring for activators to bring down to 9 psi as I was able to have on old turbo. Mie 100 mm maf is maxed so I’m planning to make new 115mm combined with dual meth injectors. I think I need that for higher psi settings. So if you have C6 APS turbo kit you can make more HP be changing the turbo to PT5830.

Ingó.

The pte5830 is a hybrid turbo from precision.

I don't think they have them on there site.

Ingo, that is s great swap. I just bought a aps z06 kit and before I even put the gt35 turbos on I am getting the new DKT 6266 for my car.

I think it is grate choose to go with the 6266 if they have same character as 5830 have. You will have better low end and more power. The GT35 have some turbo lag on LS7.

So you changed from a internally gated T25 GT3071 to an internally gated 5830 on a T25? Is the wastegate opening the same size on the 5-bolt housing?
I'd love to swap my GT2871r for a set of 5830s but I'm afraid I couldn't control low boost (~8 psi) as I can currently.

Please post up your low boost target and minimum boost level.
Sounds like a great upgrade.
Thanks,
Scott

The dkt upgrades are for the external gate c5 kit, and c6zo6 kit.

Scott, add more tire, and then controlling. Boost that low won't be an issue!

Hi Scott.

If you look at the 5830 then you can see that you can order it as direct replacement to fit to your standard C6 APS kit. You will need to refit the activator to the turbo and you are ready to go. I will send you pictures later today. I do still need to work more on activator do to I´m stuck at 15 psi even though boost is set to 9 psi.

Looks great and thanks for the pics and details Ingo.

I'm confident these would fit on my car, I just need to keep my boost level low enough to keep out of detonation on pump fuel.
With the smaller GT28's, that's around 10psi with low timing. I have a meth kit, but don't want to rely on it.

Louis, I'm already on a good tire so my low boost target is whatever will not detonate on bad pump gas (CA 91 octane).

I'll make some calls and see if I can get some more details.
Post back up with a dyno or results on low boost when you can.
Good luck with the car and take care,
Scott

So far no issue with this upgrade. I have done some more upgrades’ on the boost controlling side to be able to decrees the min boost and increasing the boost as well. I did change the activator to dual port and I did put custom 3-6 psi spring in to it. Then I will be installing C02 system to control the psi. After C02 install I plan to puss the psi up to 20 psi. Only down side with me setup is that I cannot lower the boost to let’s say 6,8,10,12, or 14 psi do to that the internal west gate will not flow enough air for that. So after I put in the 3 -6 psi spring I was able to reduce psi on 3-5300 rpm band but after 5300RPM psi builds to about 14-16 psi.( This is great for the street) This would not be the case with external Westgate. Car is making at least +-850 at the rear on 15-16 psi. I did go to the dragstrip 2-3 times last summer. Best so far is 9,7x@147 1,6 60´s. Best 60´s so far 1,48 but the I missed 2 gear. I did install Tic master clutch cylinder so I will have better change of hitting 2 gear . 1/8 trap 115-117 mph. So I believe this is quite nice for 2 pc 58mm. All me driving and runs are on pump gas with meth and as full street setup 3650 lb. I´m running 15” M&H in the back. As far as street driving go’s I is plenty of power and it is tricky to hold traction in 1-3 gear. On wod it will spin for as much as I like in 1-3 gear.
