Just in case you're interested, I heard ARP is coming out with studs stronger than the L19's yet don't have the hydrogen embrittlement issues. They're made from "Custom Age 625"

The last studs you'll ever need.

If you're not going crazy, the 234-4319's will do fine though.

Thanks Bret. I'm excited too. Not interested in exotic head studs right now. I had a hard time opening the wallet for the 8740 ARP head studs. Not willing to pay what I'm sure is double that for "aged" studs.

I don't plan on exceeding 2.5 bar, actually don't want to go into the 20# range. My OS is limited to 2.5 bar anyhow. I've been toying with scaling a 3 bar MAP to fit into 2.5 bar worth of range. But again, not going to get that crazy with it yet.

Those heads will stay down 99% of the time. 100% if you never race me. Just like last time.

I ran over 30lbs on my 42r with L19s in my mr2 back in the day and those were like half the size of the corvette headbolts. no problems. you could prolly bend the head in half with the L19 studs.

will rip the aluminum threads out of the block before anything happens to the bolt

i dunno about afr but my 4 bolt all pro's would consistently give at about 1000hp with 5 layer mls. i doubt the alloy is different.

I just had my block drilled out, and installed ARP 2000 1/2" studs. Man was I terrified torqueing those things to 140lbs. I actually did it once, then took it back apart to make sure I didnt crack anything.

that seems a bit excessive! i've never even heard of anyone going over 110

bigger bolts with more surface area of threads should hold more torque so you had that going for you.

doing something fancy like a o ring stack on 4 bolts?

I can't wait to see this sucker be finished. I can't even imagine tackling something like this in such a short time frame. What will speed up the process is a Katy Perry CD on repeat.
