retarted. so either you can spend 20k on a transmission for a GTR, or you can spend 20k in mods to a corvette and smoke the GTR. hmmm

John Shepherd has been building upgraded R35 trans for awhile. I believe that is what AMS uses in all the alpha cars. Not even close to $20k.

The GR6 (the transaxle the R35 uses) is about 20k if you buy a OEM replacement.
If you go to a shop that is dodson certified then making the GR6 bomb proof can be done for sub 20k, just depends what parts you select.
Most guys upgrade the 1st gear and input shaft, some go all out and replace the entire gearset. Clutch packs for your desired power goal. Upgraded baskets to dodge any broken welds on the OEM's. Circlip eliminators to keep gears from walking. Mod's to the pump to keep pressure stable. Cooling upgrades. Etc.
Not that bad really. Which at that point you can go flog on it all day long without hesitation. Your tires and axles become the topic of weakness at that point.

I have a TTC6Z built by RPM (Frans) and can vouch for the quality of build. Car makes a very conservative 1k HP and drive like a stock Z in every way until WOT. Makes this power on pump gas and even get's 30 mpg cruising down the hwy.
I've also been in the very early stages of contemplating selling it only because I have a TTG and Single Turbo Supra project that are just being completed and not sure with my current stable it will get driven much. I'll make the final decision once the Supra and TTG arrive and see how they stack up. If you are interested send me a PM.

I don't think Mike (flyinmedic) will stand for another Black C6Z treading on his turf....Silver is off limits as well. And there are a few fast Red ones. I haven't seen a fast LMB Z06 in Houston, and it is the best color available, so maybe you should modify your search some.
