Default mounting gauges

I got a AFR and Boost gauge I want to install in my C6 ashtray area. The gauges are a little big in the cases, so I removed them. They are both digital gauges and out of the cases they are just about 1.9 in diameter. Looking for a good way to mount them. I was thinking of just putting a peice of clear or tinted plexiglass in the ashtray and figure some way to mount them securely behind it. Do the LEDs get hot enough to do anything to the plexiglass? Anyway just looking for some ideas to mount them. I do not want to put them on the A pillar.

Thanks

I really like the idea of putting them where the ashtray is, and I thought about doing that, but it just looks so tight in there. I don't think the LED's heat should be a probem, they throw off hardly any heat.

LEDs won't get hot.

You might want to find a place a little higher up where the gauges can be seen. Good luck watching gauges down there while accelerating hard enough to need them.

I did the A Pillar and got very used to it very fast. Plus you barely have time to look there even.

Thanks, I am used to quick glance at the ashtray area since I had my valentine 1 concealed display there. I recently put the radar projector in so I removed the display.

If you pull your center console there is a lot of relestate in the ashtray, I cut it apart and glues in a peice of flat plastic with a dremel and mounted 6 switches, if you were to just drill out 2 large holes your gauges would fit. + you could still close the ashtray lid

I have seen a c6 with the gauges in the two center vents above the screen/radio. I would love to see some pics of this if anyone has any?

LOL now that is nice. Please share how you did that. I'm old school and the A Pillar works for me.

Here are some not so great camera phone pictures I took over six months ago while Race Proven Motorsports was finishing up my TT build. The center console was modified by Dennis at Double D Mods. The location does allow me to take a quick glance at the gauges (Fuel PSI & AFR) while getting into the throttle.

My buddy does it, plus now it even keeps the auto dimming feature.
