WOW what a mess it's great that the driver walked away from such an incident. Those looking to install a roll bar I'd say discuss it with the guy who installed this one even better to have then install it for you.

Glad the driver made it out ok. It was a quick day at the Mile today. Records for different cars were being broken a lot.

Hope all is well with you guys. This is a dangerous game, as I suspect many are starting to realize that attend or paticipate in all the Texas Mile events.

What lmr car was it? I heard they had a 1800rwhp camaro build for the mile. And RC vette is for sell so I doubt they take that vette when its up for sale.

Im sure its already been discussed in here, but word is the Camaro was having tire/wheel issues and RC's old car spun a main bearing.

MT Drag Radials are the issue from what I understand. Both the LMR Camaro and Hinson's vette were running them, and that was the issue. I've read where somebody posted that MT told them not to run them. Cars were flying yesterday at the Mile.

On Friday, I did some hill country spirited driving on the backroads to Luchenbach and back from the river house at 750hp with the MT DR's(original series). About 1 hour of sustained high speeds with my buddies moddified new 5.0 with go pro cameras mounted on the cars. Got home, and both tires have metal wires coming out of them and after completely toast. Amazing one of them didn't blow.

Completely agree with that!!
I think we all want to go fast, maybe hit that magical 200mph barrier, but things can get so crazy at that speed when something goes wrong.

As has been said, kudos to the cage builder.
Top speed events are no joke, and there are many who will attempt it with little to no safety equipment.

Crashes like this really send a message to those of us who want to go fast.
It also brings home the message about street racing and what can happen during that seemingly simple blast down our favorite highway.

Granted, I love speed and the feeling of acceleration, but every time something like this happens, it makes me realize how important proper equipment is.
OK, I'll shut up now!

On the older series?! I have seen that the newer ones had a separation issue between the tread and the sidewall but man, what is going on with these tires

With regard to the wreck, its not the tires...the MT engineers told them not to do it. Hinson posted that in the other Texas mile thread.

Glad to hear the driver is fine.

...been saying drag radials have no place @ high speed now for years. I understand they do it in the 1/4 but,...totally different conditions. You need that sidewall. Glad dudes alright,... thats a sick car. Too bad...

I had a good view of the accident as I was close to the 3/4 mile mark. I will not give my thoughts other than to say the roll bar setup worked.

Sorry to hear about the loss. It is great to see the driver walked away which is all the counts.

I had never felt to comfortable pushing my corvette c5 above 200mph. When racing I do not shift into 5th.
