What is the fuel system in the ZR-1? How much power can it support? What would it cost? How hard would it be to make it work in a 2005 Z51? I am looking for user friendly options to upgrade the factory setup for my supercharged vette

Its actually quite complex, it consists of a brushless pump running on three phase power. The control reference (desired fuel pressure based on engine load) comes from the PCM which sends a control signal to the via the high speed GM LAN to the fuel pump control module. The FPCM in turn drives the control relay to control the three phase brushless fuel pump. The control signal from the FPCM is a 400hz PWM (pulse width modulated) signal. The frequency of this PWM signal is varied to control the pump speed as pressure is either reduced or increased as demanded by the PCM. For feedback there is a pressure sensor in line to provide a pressure feedback signal to the PCM, thus providing a basic closed loop control loop for pressure control.
If you wanted to incorporate this system into your car, it would not be impossible but it would be very expensive. It would require the ZR1 PCM, and all the wiring and other smart devices such as teh FPCM, FPCM relay, the special pump and all the associated wiring. Seeing on the ZR1 uses a different PCM it will require a new engine harness, not cheap at all, but not impossible.

Tom hit it right on the head, great system though. We have not been able to run a ZR1 out of fuel yet with the stock system. Too bad it's such a complex install to convert to a standard C6.
I'm experiencing what seems to be a fuel starvation problem with my 2005 ProCharged car, too. The SC has been on the car for 3 years with zero issues, but, 6 weeks ago, it began acting as if it was running out of gas after running it thru the gears. Right after shifting into 3rd, the engine would just go dead. After coasting for 10 to 15 seconds, it would sputter back to life, then run as if nothing was wrong. It never did this before, so I assumed the fuel pump might be dying, so I replaced it. I got the car back early this week, but, because of work and weather, did not drive it until today. I still have the same symptoms. Tomorrow I am going to try again. This time I will run it thru the gears again and if it kill again, I'm going to shut off the ignition, and fuel pump, coast to the shoulder, and pop off a fuel fitting to see if the fuel rails are dry.
If anyone else has experienced this problem, and discovered a fix, please let me know. I hope I don't need to upgrade the fuel delivery system. The car ran great with the stock pump for almost 25k miles.

I had a similar problem when the following conditions were met:
1- Driving the car for several hours non stop (I.E. This only happened on long non stop drives).
2- Around 1/4 tank or less.
It would then fall completely flat on its face when given full throttle, but stop after refuelled.
I BELIEVE this is due to the fuel pump getting too hot. I spoke with a few other supercharged C6 owners who reported the same problem with other kits as well. Sadly I do not have a good solution for this, but I am planning on going dual Walbros in my car...
When my car ran out of fuel two days ago, it had a brand new pump assembly, full tank, the car had been driven just enough to get up to operating temp, and it was 40 gegrees outside. I don't think my pump was getting too hot. I just can't come up with an answer. Like I said, the car ran fine for 3 years and 25k miles with the original pump.

That makes no sense. Are you runing a BAP? If so that could be the answer...

No BAP. Car never needed one. I do run the RaceTronics wiring harness that puts alternator current directly to the pump. Other that that, and 60# injectors, the fuel system is 100% stock. Raining here today, so could not check to see if fuel rails were are running dry.
