Default Cars w/ twin turbos...

Do you ever run trackdays? Any over heating issues. What brand and how many pounds of boost with a stock bottom end.
Thanks
Scott

Yes, I run at VIR (road course for those who haven't been), and I have an APS turbo kit, and run 8psi and no alcohol.

Yes, I have a heating problem on the track, but only in the summer. I get to 300 degree oil temp after 20 mins on track, but boy its a fun 20 mins, then I take it a little easy and the temp drops, so no harm no foul.

Yes, I have a stock bottom end and a stock radiator with no oil cooler, and I plan on putting a Dewitts radiator with oil cooler in the car to fight the heat. It should work, we'll see.

One interesting note is that the plastic ribbons on the oil supply lines to the turbos have melted, but only in the last inch or so from the turbo, so that is a good indication of how hot and how far the heat seems to be propagating from the turbo.

Do you ever run trackdays? Drag only

Any over heating issues. Not how we run... Can run True street fine

What brand and how many pounds of boost with a stock bottom end.
IPSmotorsports.net
Never ran it on a stock bottom end... but run 17-21lbs depending on how fast we want to go.

Default Thanks for feed back

I have plenty of bottom end with 3.15 gears.
Wanted to stay NA but CARB sucks A$$.
So I thought turbo with the power kicking in later and growing would be the ticket.
But I want to be able to run for 30 min sessions on Track days Road Coarse...
This is why I was thinking turbo instead of SC....
Do SC get hotter than TTs?
Thanks again,
Scott

As far as turbo power kicking in later, thats not the case. Ball bearing turbos spool up fast, and on the track, they're always spooled anyway. The biggest thing about turbos on the road track is that the blow off valves tend to open close abruptly, so you have to modulate that with your foot a little more carefully. The car's power is almost on and off like a light switch.

As far as turbos or SC being hotter, I don't know. I do know that my friends with SC cars seem to have belt problems on the track. At least with turbos that is a problem I don't have.

If you are going to do a lot of track days, NA + displacement works best.

Has anyone seen or used Inconel blankets/shields to help keep heat down under the hood???

these guys do it. http://www.atpwrap.com/html/alloyracing.html

and there a a guy with a Trubo 240Z that says they are very good. http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-eng...-blankets.html

He is also using like an Ally bag on the coldside to help keep that cool. Might be usefull to!

Chris.

APS twin turbos
I do some hpde events at a couple different tracks. I had some heat issues with the car in an auto. I had RPM chnge my c6 to a m6 transmision and added a louvered hood. oil and water Temps have been better since.

I do agree with keeping the car N/A if you want to do alot of road tracks.
