Default methanol system failed!!! and she's FINE!!!

as the title states, my methanol injection system took a dump, the mile pulls finally took their toll on the inline fuse circuit... finally melted one side during some testing at my buddies airstrip today... in the middle of 5th gear on a 3rd-5th gear pull it gave up... the power went flat as timing was pulled by the ECM... and all was/is well!!! put in a new heavier gauge circuit and back on the runway!!! Thank You Taylor and Dallas Performance for tuning with ALL of the proper safety nets!!! due to Taylors knowledge and ability, my little LS2 still lives, and is making quick work of some other cars these days!!!
Thanks again Taylor!!!:thumbs :

I just had the same thing happen to me tonight, I was taking Jason (Malu) for a ride and I noticed my meth light did not come on and it felt a bit sluggish.. I scrolled to the IAT's on my aeroforce and they were still in the 90's.. No meth and hammering it through 3rd and 4th.. Not good w/ 14psi.. I hit the test button on the alkycontrol and the light finally came on after a few seconds and the IAT's started to drop quickly... Not sure if it was clogged or what, but the safety net in Taylors tune kept me out of trouble.. It was spraying fine after that, so I gave it a few full 3rd and 4th pulls to 160.. God I love this cold weather!!

Where did you guys buy your IAT sensor relocation kit? I'm pretty conservative right now in my tune with fueling, only using meth for additional octane at 15PSI but I am running 20* total timing with the Hi Octane tables. No Kr unless the meth fails then it defaults to the more conservative Low Octane table. I am leaving some power on the table with the fuel tables with AFR's at (9.5 - 10) at high boost but have been hesitant to pull any fuel without a better failsafe.

Default Safety Net

What is the safety net, and how does it detect a failure of the Meth injection system?

The "safety net" is a combination of the system setup and tune... The IAT sensor relocation, and the tune, are two of the major players. When methanol is sprayed the AIT's go way down, if the tune is setup properly timing is optimized for the IAT drop and added fuel being introduced to the system. If the system fails the temp rises and timing is pulled back to a safe level... as they say "it's all in the tune"

Jeremy, what should be the distance between the meth spray location and the IAT sensor location to have real time data to the computer? And is the spray positioned after the MAF sensor?

After the maf and my iat sensor is about 6 inches behind the nozzles.

What if you are doing your pulls on a cold day? When my engine broke a ring land, I was doing full throttle pulls i 33F weather. My IATs would have been low enough to cause the ECU to command Methanol-like timing even if there was no Meth being sprayed, no?

(I did buy a Meth kit btw and will be installing it on my next rebuild)

Kudos to your tuner, Jeremy. Dallas Performance continues to build on their already very solid reputation.

I run a 94 0ctane mix and have meth as well,,,,,,isn't that like "double protection"?
My tune is a "safe one",,but I wouldn't mind adding a "little" more timing for more rwhp.
