Default Maggie 122HH & RK Sport Hood Interference

Has anyone had a problem with the vaccuum actuator interfering under the hood? The vacuum actuator is the black canister that has linkage going to it. In lamens terms its the bypass when your driving normal. Mine is hitting so bad it cracked the paint on the outside. There goes my 3 color custom paint job...

I took it upon myself to call RK Sport directly. The person I spoke to basicly told me because they have tested thousands of hoods, the problem must be with my blower. That the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. My blower is the 122HH bought from Magnuson! As its not bad enough that I will have to cover the painting of a new hood which is going to cost somewhere near $1000.00 because the color scheme is custom. It sounds to me like they don't want to help at all. It amazes me that once companys get your money they're done with you. I left a message with Mike Lozano. At this point I'm extremly

You're not the only one that's had clearance problems with these hoods. I know at least one guy that painted his only to find that the hood wouldn't close over his TVS1900. I can understand you're being pissed. Luckily, I knew to steer clear of that hood. They ought to do something about it.......They will probably tell you to lower your motor.

The only acceptacle soloution is a new hood. I shouldn't have to change the height of the engine to make it fit when it says on their website that the Magnuson 112 and 122 fit with no problems. I wonder if the idiot I spoke to last night even stopped to think.....that out of the thousands of 112/122 hoods they have made that it is possible to have some non-conforming product. No company is perfect, however I do expect them to accept responsibility for the defective hood they sent me. Hopefully Mike will return my call today with good news.

I'm still waiting to hear from Sicmotorsports and RK Sport. I also called Magnuson Products and spoke to Davis Gonzalez to verify that the vaccum actuator on the 122HH is correct, and it is.

Here is a picture of my 122 it fits with no problem with the exception that we had to notch the rear cross member of the hood.

No actuator piece on the pic below - I left David another message by the way. I think him not calling me back means he's trying to figure out why your's has it and the other ones dont...

I went back to the shop where my Corvette is today and took more pictures. The actuator that Magnuson installed onto my unit sticks up 5/8 of an inch above the tallest part of the Magnacharger. Unless I sand through the hood theres no way that actuator can be correct regaurdless What David at Magnuson says.

I think someone in upper management from Magnuson needs to chime in.

Does anyone else have pictures of a 122HH installed where you can see the vaccum actuator?

I have a 122 on my truck, but it's a front drive. The vacuum actuator is way below the top of the blower. It's on the back end. I guess the blower is turned 180 degrees vs yours. Something has to be mounted wrong on yours. I can't believe, with all of the hood clearance issues that the Mangnacharger folks have to work through, that they would have that actuator mounted that high. Call or EMail Brian at Magnacharger monday a.m. I think he goes by "Magnacharger" on this site. Don't think he checks in here too often though.

It turns out that the vaccum actuator was mounted incorrectly when the Magnacharger was manufactured which caused the hood interference. Brian at Magnuson sent me a new actuator next day red. Now we need to address the spider cracks in the hood which were caused by the interference. Sending pics tomorrow morning.
