Default Help! Only 548 hp with a A&A Vortech?

Just had a VT-2 A&A Vortech super charger installed only to find out we dyno'd 548hp and 478 tq at the wheels. I was expecting at least 600hp at minimum only to be disappointed. Can anyone tell me if I purchased the right blower for my 07 ZO6. Also I'm making 7 pounds of boost at high rpm's only.

Carl, 650 is usually at higher boost, with meth, and or a cam on the Z's, although I agree that 548 RWHP is low on seven pounds.

Rosso, what octane gas? Headers?

Where ar you located? Temp. can be a factor. When i first got my 07 Z Procharged, no other mods, we got 606rwhp at 6pi...Few mods later dynoed at 730rwhp, then went back few months later and dynoed 698rwhp.Air temp was aroun 105F!!..so that could be it.

Yeah that is a little low for your numbers. What octane? What are the temps? What size pulley are you running, are you pullied for 7psi? Also what supporting mods are you running?

You will always dyno 30-40whp less in heat than in the winter time with nothing untouched. If you can post a dyno graph that'd be helpful.

Either way, at 7psi you should break 600whp easily.

I hope the shop is still working on that. Something is definitely wrong.

I tuned the car. I think the problem is because the blower's a T-trim with a 4" pulley and boost doesn't start coming on until 5000 rpm.

The car keeps getting knock in the logs, I'm sure it's false knock but still it's a bit worry-some. I went as far as 18 degrees of timing and as lean as 11.4 AFR and the most it would muster out is 540.

I'm pretty disappointed myself, this car made 470 with just a air filter.

I talked to Andy and he said he made 600 rwhp with only 14 degrees-so going to 18 is something I wasn't very comfortable with but it did help.

The air temp in the dyno room was 85 degrees.

My thought is that the blower is just not working fast enough, this car would probably pick up from a Si trim with maybe a 3.8" pulley, the T-trim with the 4" pulley is just too lazy.

We could put on a smaller pulley with a restrictor plate-I'll need to talk to Andy about that.

I live in Canada where the temperature was 86 degrees during the dyno runs. I have exhaust and headers along with a ported tb and intake as far as mods. Installed TR6 plugs and a 160 thermostat. Andy at A&A had told me that those are good numbers and that I shouldn't be aiming for higher or stand a strong chance of blowing the motor. My tuner had told me we should at least be acheiving 600 rwhp.

Wait, Andy told you that 548rwhp is good number for 7 psi on a Z06 with headers ,ported tb,exhaust or you will "blow up the engine"??

He made on my 100% stock 2006 z06 678rwhp and 600rtq thats on 91 octane with 1 can of torco. No headers... nothing... just s/c with a 3.8 pullet SI trim..

im supprised he said it blow up over 548rwhp or STRONG CHANCE OF BLOWING THE MOTOR...... makes no sense..

Im going to say.. maybe a belt slipping? is this a mustang dyno??

Arun@Champion Motors tuned it. He wasn't happy at all. He said something about boost taking too long to build and that and Si trim would of been the better blower.

I heard him talking to Andy about it today and I think a Si trim is the next step.

I would definetely like to know what kind of dyno it was on. 548 on 7 psi seems odd on an LS7 with headers....
