It's also VERY important to point out that the Viper in question, is a 6 speed manual trans car... WOW!!! at those times... And it's a full interior, stock suspension (except for after market coil overs) D.D. street car...
We Vette Boys down here in DFW have our hands full with these Viper guys... but we're gaining... It's only a matter of time... and money
I think the time is here now, espeially with the Warhawk blocks, the advancements in trannies with the T6060, the advancement of the ZR1 rear end, and the great turbo kits available today, just comes down to money. The parts, knowledge and abilities all exist in several shops across the country. The bar is raised by the day. I'm confident Nick's build will bring some serioous power/times to the table just as some of the other big boy Z's have. It's great to watch it all happen!
1700, what type of fuel is he running? Any links?
Dan

The Viper has made 1700 before but I think only a couple of times and only on the dyno on race gas. The rest of the time it is rolling around with between 800-1000. Here is a little display down in Mexico somewhere.

Street trim is actually 1250rwhp/tq... not sure where the 1700 ever came from... I think was a joke at some point, and someone said 1700, and it stuck...

sounds more inline.

Mr. Darkside has a 1700hpTT Viper. It can be found on youtube with Gary Javo driving it. Best time so far I think is 8.70. It would be nice to see you give him a run for his money!
there are some sick vipers out there
Garth Weaver has the quickest and a true street viper (here in vegas) to my knowledge 7.98 at 183 on a 6 speed...on pump gas makes 1200.. 1546 on race fuel.. Full interior , ac/radio..
If anyone can build a 160 mph c6 , it will be Nick and the crew

Is that a 160 mph plus crew, because we already got to 160 mph in a c6
I don't get it?
I know you built the atomic and yellow one.. i was asking if you built a c6 that was going over 160...
Technically it's not 160 yet... But I did 159.16, locking it up at the wrong time and w/o skinnies. Put skinnies on the car and I'll bust 160 all day long. I do consistant 155-156's w/o lock up.
All this bench racing... I'm going to have to pull my car out of winter hibernation and bust some more times, lol!
For those who are learning and see trick stuff like cages keep in mind that a "roll" cage is exactly that... to prevent the interior from collapsing on the driver in the event of a crash. It also adds stiffness and adds protection from impact from all directions.
Now the IMPORTANT part is that the cage is steel and HARD. If you do not have a good HELMET on you can actually have situations where your head will hit the cage tubing hard enough to knock you out, cause serious injury and even KILL you. This can happen without a full on crash.
Any car with a cage or roll bar or whatever needs to be used with a helmet at all times. It is MUCH less traumatic to hit the plastic or other parts of a stock interior because all those parts have been engineered with crash survival in mind. Of course a cage could easily interfere with airbags and other safety features.
Bottom line, a high powered car is NO joke and can easily get out of control even with a skilled driver. I don't want to sound like a grandpa here but many young drivers (and some not so young) either do not know or blow off the dangers involved. Just look at the Dale Earnhardt tradegy. Dale knew that he SHOULD have been using a head restraint device like the HANS but chose not to and it cost him his life.
If you want a FAST car look to racing and the required safety equipment and follow the same advice unless you want your friends grieving over your casket and your children without a father.
