Default Msd Vs Kb Bap

Hi guys, I am going to purchase a BAP as insurance for my C6. Just wondering which one people prefer and which one is better between the MSD and KB boost a Pump? Thanks

I am also going to post this in the tech section.

We only use the Kenne Bell unit, and have been with great success for years. No experience with the MSD unit unfortunately.

I have installed many MagnaVolt BAP and never had a problem they are a very slick design and look great under the hood.

I have not heard much about MagnaVolt BAP. Do you like it over the MSD and Kenne Bell?

I've used the MagnaVolt for little over a year now and no issues, previously used the KB BAP also with no issues. My suggestion on the KB BAP, mount the controller were you can keep an eye on it or at least a decent view of it, mine was under the dash and since there is no locking mech. on the knob I found the knob on some occassions not in the proper setting. There were times before I go WOT, I would reach under just to make certain.

Yes i like it over the msd and kb.
The magnavolt is not only boost reference but it picks up rpm too.
I have installed at least over 15 magnavolts and never had a problem.
I mount it next to the fuse box under the hood.

Where do you purchase the Magnavolt BAP?

Los Angeles Performance Division (LAPD) - 818.998.3966, speak with Keith.

There in-house tuner Doug worked for Magnuson for many years and was involved with the engineering process of the MagnaVolt.

Replied to your PM.

Default Fuel pump voltage booster

We have tested the Kenne Bell, the MSD and the Magnuson.

We have used the Magnuson and the Kenne Bell. We use the Magnasun Magnavolt on some of the Magnuson supercharger kits but we have been using the KB Boost-A-Pump for longer since it was out before the Magnavolt so that is the one we use more often (mostly just because we have more time and experience with it). For some of fuel pumps that pull a lot of current when run at high voltages (20+ amps), the Magnavolt wouldn't be compatible either since I don't think it is designed for those types of current loads.

For high boost, smaller engines the MSD one would probably work well. For the relatively low boost levels (5 to 15 psi) that we run on most street supercharged and turbocharged LS series engine packages, we couldn't get the voltage boosting we wanted because the MSD uses an internal boost pressure sensor and even at the maximum voltage per psi of boost gain, it didn't get us to the voltage we needed at the pump. We did this testing several years ago so MSD may have changed the design to increase the adjustment range or may now offer one with a different adjustment range (compared to the one we did our testing with).
