Default C6 Supercharger Traction inquiry

Just wanted to get some feedback on what kinds of experience people have had who kept their stock C6 coupe tires and are running a ProCharger. Comments from others who are using comparable supercharger setups are also welcome. Is the car still controllable or are you burning the tire up regularly. Post what your setup is with you reply as well please.

Thanks,
John

Im running about 550 to the rears with the Procharger - Traction on the stock tires are fine , as long as dont dont mash the throttle every time the light turns green - At WOT , 1st is useless , and now in the winter so is second , but as long as you learn how to modulate the pedal , youll be just fine

When does the super charger actually kick in. I read a procharger is from the 3000rpm range to 5500rpm range. Can you drive the car normal without going into the super chager range?
When the ground is wet are you able to drive the car or just leave it in the garage? I am researching if I should get a magna charger or a procharger once I pick up my 2008 vette.

the supercharger is always going it doesnt kick in...but i think to anwser your question you can go from idle to redline without it making boost. boost is controled by a bypass or blow off valve, when normal driving the vavle is open and letting air escape the intake. The valve is controlled by vaccum all full throttle the vavle closes and you make boost and at part throttle you can still make some depending on how hard you roll into it, but normal driving you wont really see any boost. if you have regular tires id say why not drive it in the rain but i wouldnt if you have any kind of drag radials. I have had both procharger and Kenne bell(just like magna) cars Go Procharger .

i got about 600 to the wheels right now. i also have 335 mich p sports......i dont drive in the rain but when it is cold i am spinning in top of third at 90+......i wouldn't dare even try run flats...... i have redone the whole pipe route though so my boost hits way harder and faster then stock procharger kit. i am at 8 psi right now but even when i was at 6 it was scary in the cold....

It's all about throttle modulation.

As long as there is no snow on the ground Im driving the Vette - You just have to be aware that when it gets real cold , or wet , youre going to be severly traction limited , as posted before , its all about throttle modulation .

So , in short , yes , you can drive it in any conditions , just go easy on the gas and dont drag race ricers in the rain

The great part about going F/I is that if you keep your foot out of the gas , it will drive pretty much stock .

Thanks everyone, that is some really good info. The vette wouldnt be my daily driver so I guess it isnt going to be to much of a problem. I just dont want it sitting in my garage because it wouldnt be able to handle different road conditons. I probably will keep the boost on the lower side like 5psi. The LS3 version Procharger will be available next week so I will see what the recommened boost would be for this enigne.
I was just trying to decide if I should go with the manga charger(and a new hood) or just the procharger. When I watch the You Tube videos of vettes with a procharger, its just so awesome. The cars just takes off like a bat outta hell while they are already doing 40mph. If you guys havent seen this one check it out. 920hp!! About 58 seconds into the video he really gets on it! Its amazing how his hat still stays on. http://youtube.com/watch?v=UKRQsEgZAng

How much is traction control helping/hindering with the 1st thru 3rd gears and hard launches as far as wheel spin goes..

Correct me if Im wrong,I thought Magnacharger is a Roots blower and Kenne Bell is a twin screw(much more efficient).

The traction control system in the Vette is made for safety , not performance , so in that regard it will only hinder forward progress - It does however , help to control wheelspin for saftey , but likely if you try you can overpower the TC system with ease .

When I race and want to launch hard , I turn the TC off - Dont be so worried though , its all highley controlable , just watch your right foot

here we go another question about the procharger
if i bought the procharged with the tune kit ,,, will they set the tune for my car with all the stuff on my car ?
do i need to re tune it ? or its better to have a tuner with dyno ?
i am not in the states ,, and in my country tuning is like stealing money
very expencive and every kit i add in my car he charge my alot ! like having another credit in my car !
so when i buy my procharger will they ask me about my headers and camshaft and all stuff in my car and send me a tune for all of that ?
or the tune just to drive the car and then i need to tune it ?
thanks for helping guys !
and if mr BrooklynC6 with 550 hp
can you tell us what are your modes on the car ?

mr excessive81 600 hp
what are your modes on your car

many thaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks
