Default ATI Procharger clatter

When I drove past a co-worker at work I was asked what the racket was. He told me it sounds like some bearings going bad or something was very loose. Anyone else hear something similar with theirs.

I had a similar sound when the front oil seal started to leak. Pretty bad rattling sound. Took 30 minutes to pull the head unit, sent it to ATI for rebuild under warranty. Check for any oil at bottom of the head unit.

Maybe he thinks it is going to sound like a Honda? Prochargers aren't quiet thats for sure.

I did not think it was an excessive noise but have not heard anyone elses to compare with. Guess I will call ATI and ask some questions. Hopefully get a fair and honest answer.

The straight cut gears in the ProCharger make some scary noise at idle. If the noise goes away, off idle, then it should be okay. Good luck.

On my last Pro-Charger car I had the same noise......perfectly normal and I had no issues with it.

It's annoying to say the least but not abnormal.

No oil on the bottom side. Thanks for all the feed back. I feel more at ease.

The noise on my P1 is more of a quite high pitch whistle

The straight cut gears do indeed create the noise that you mentioned, and is perfectly normal. The noise tends to get quieter as the blower gets miles on it and the gears break in. Bob
