Default Building a forged 402...

I want to go with a stroker forged bottom end to create more NA power and hold 14.7 lbs of boost. Am I better off buying the crank, rods, pistons, rings, etc., and have it built or just buy a built shortblock like texas-speed offers. Where can I find prices for cranks etc if that route? From a price perspective it seems like just reusing the stock block I'd save some money. I'd like to be able to run AFR 225 with a 72cc combustion chamber and -2 or -4 pistons. Or I may use the ported LS7 heads so I can just use Z06 stock headers and exhaust. For the sleeper/semi-carb legal car, plus I could get them cheap. I'm looking to start with 700rwhp with the S-trim and then be able to upgrade to T-trim and make 875rwhp. Is that reasonable?

It would most likely be less money to buy a built shortblock, but here are the parts we typically use. I would go with the AFR heads, as they have a much thicker deck surface. Bob

I did a very similar build. I picked her up today to put some miles on the new engine, so far 100. I will have another 100 on tonight and will have it tuned tomorrow. I don't have the heads, but I do have a blower cam and meth. If everything works to the numbers I want, I will send you my build sheet on the engine. Pretty much the same parts that EPP stated, except I have different pistons. I also got a ported oil pump. I will tell you what. At 20mph and at a 1/4 throttle, it is breaking the tires loose!

John

there are a lot of top notch engine builders on this website. If your looking for a boost motor I would suggest you also go to the C5 section of this site and do a search in there. You will find tons of 700-900 hp cars in there from people who have gone down the road and could probably give you a better idea as to what set ups to use and costs. LS1tech has some Boost Junkies in there as well so you definately want to get some information from there.
