Default New console mounted boost gauge kit

Any members that have forced induction on your C6 Vette's may be interested in this new product from Late Model Speed.

It's a mounting kit that allows you to mount a high quality Autometer boost gauge in your console. It comes with everything you need to install, including a new metal panel that fits perfectly in the factory opening.Since we supply a new panel, your factory panel can be saved in case you ever want to put the car back to stock. If you prefer a more factory look, the panel can be used as a template to modify your original grey plastic panel.

Here is a photo, and a link to our website:

Please let me know if I can answer any questions,
Ed

Obviously wouldn't work with a F-55 car. Nice otherwise.

That solution worked well for me.......I mounted mine a few months ago. I had never seen this done before..............I wonder if your kit would have made it easier on me.

Thank you,

We really wanted to offer a product that the average owner could install himself, and this was the only location that didn't require major work to re-locate critical components. Leaving the stock factory panel intact for the guys that may want to go back to stock was a bonus.

Looks great Bushong572! I like the ring you made to angle it toward the driver. If a kit was avaible for 99 bucks including the gauge would you have bought one?

ED,

what is required for the install? I am interested in what/how many connections are required.

Thanks

Jeff

JDsC6, Pretty easy to install, you have to remove a few screws and lift the plastic console out of place. The light on the gauge taps in to the traction control botton right next to it, so it will come on with the dash lights. You will have to run the supplied silicone tubing along the side of the console and under the carpet before re-installing the console, then drill a small hole in the firewall to route the hose through and connect it to a vacuum/boost source on your intake manifold. Total install time should be no more than a couple hours.

Pennys58, The Nexus gauges will require a little more work to install, due to the remote sender. I sent you a PM with more information.

Thanks,
I would have definitely looked at your kit when I installed my gauge. To answer some other's questions: the hardest part of the install is running the line under the dash and through the firewall.........I drilled a hole just above the steering column (that was the best place I could find). I hooked my light wire to the seat heater fuse (the gauge is lit any time the ignition is on...makes it easier to read in the sunlight).

Agreed, it's not the location of choice, but if you want to stay away from the A-pillar mount, and you don't want to do major surgery on the dash, there aren't a lot of options. This setup reminded me of the old 60's Ferrarri's and such that had a console mounted tach,

Besides that, think how cool you will appear when your signifigant other asks about it, and you can explain to her all about pounds of boost........

It's not as hard to see as you would think........I picked a gauge with large numbers and changed to a led light. I can see it out of my peripheral vision without actually turning my head.

The kit comes with standard Autometer red and green "socks" for the gauge light. I normally angle them toward the driver so you don't have to actually read the gauge, just check the direction of the needle.

No doubt. I'm not about to take my eyes off the glass or pillar pod while raking the gears.

As has been said, these gauges still have good visibility in this position, but everyone has there personal opinion.

It's an option for those who don't want the import look,

Thanks!

The '05 Models can use the same kit, but the panel will need another hole cut in it for the airbag light. Your stock plastic panel snaps right out and can be used as a template. JDsC6 If you like, you can send me your panel, and I'll do it for you,
Ed
