I recently added a D1 and a 3200 stall and I'm making 600rwhp. I currently have some measley 295 Potenza's on a 19x10" rim.....obviously, the tires are pretty much worthless below about 50mph.
I'm getting ready to go to the rear Z panels and I'd like to put on a 19x12 rear with a 345?? What are you guys running for traction? There's no DR available in a 19" so what do you do? Any of you running that Hoosier I've heard about? My car isn't a daily driver or a dyno queen.....I want to be able to use the power to it's fullest extent . I'd run DR's 24/7 if they made them. Any of you switch to an 18" due to the abundant tire selection?
Any of you had good luck with a radial? Suggestions/input welcome

I'm sure dedicated 19 DR's are just around the corner.
They will not be as effective as 18" or lower dia tires because of the sidewall, but they will be 100% better than any street tire out there.
I have the Hoosier R6 345/19 rear, 285/18 front, but have not mounted them yet to give you any feedback. I think others on the forum have tried ,do a quick search if you want info
I'm trying to wear out my stock tires before I swap for the R6's.
here's a pic. I had them grooved.
They are pretty sticky.
Click on specs, under road racing tires. Go down to SPORTS CAR D.O.T. - RADIAL (A6 & R6), and they are the 19" 345's.
They are a road racing tire, that when re-grooved, can be "used on the street". I am not sure if they have true dot regulations for the street, but people are using them.
The do not have the grooves in them, so you have to get them grooved. I know a guy on the north side of town that has them on his 06' Z06 and loves them to death. The only problem is driving in the rain. And lately, it can be sunny with out a cloud in the sky and all of a sudden it down pours. I think I am going to try the Hoosier Road Racing tires as well though.
What are the ones in the pic? Are you happy with them?? I realize they're "pretty sticky" but could you elaborate

Sticky as in my fingernail digs in the tread easily

where do you all get them grooved??? look really nice.
I'd be worried about the race tire carcass on the street, what about them going away after the heat cycles. not sure if they are "tough enough" to survive the mean streets, but they sure would be fun!
how many miles are those things rated to last up to?
I don't think they rate racing compounds in mileage.
I cannot see them lasting more than 6K on the street.
But that is just a guess.
Others might chime in if they wore out a set.

2K, still stick like Glue, not even close to being worn out. Keep in mind I use these just to improve straight line traction.
So...roughly what did they cost, grooved and out the door?
Thx
They usually have the Hoosier tires in stock at Roger Kraus racing.
I think I paid roughly 100 a tire to have them grooved.
Check Tire rack fo the price on the size tires you need.
