Default Procharger Help

Alright, I've decided to do a head/cam swap and I had a few questions. I'm considering either the AFR 205 heads which won't require a pulley swap to maintain the 6.5psi I'm at or the AFR 225 heads which will require an 8psi pulley to maintain the 6.5psi.

Questions:

1. Is anyone having belt slippage with the 8psi 6 rib setup? I can't afford to do an 8 rib swap at this time.

2. I know that the 225 heads with the 8psi pulley will require the addition of a BAP and bigger injectors. Has anyone used the 205 heads and a blower cam and left the fuel system alone?

3. I know that the 225 heads and smaller pulley setup will make more power than the 205 heads with the stock pulley but any idea how much more?

whats your current displacement/setup.

I've been told that the AFR225 heads, which I have on my stock cube motor, have a larger bowl diameter then the cylinder bore. I haven't seen this first hand for myself because I don't have a need to take apart the motor but this info came from a reputable source who put the motor together. Just something to think about when making your decission.

This is true for the 72cc AFR 225 head which I am considering. The bore diameter of the head is 4.125 and the cylinder bore of a stock LS2 is 4.000. The AFR 225 small bore 65cc heads have a 4.000 bore.

My motor is all stock with the exception of the Procharger. My only concern is the difference in compression between the heads. The AFR 205 66cc heads and the AFR 225 65cc heads will nearly maintain the stock compression ratio and won't require an increase in boost to maintain the final compression ratio of the engine. I've been looking all over and I can't find any comparison between small and large cc heads on actual boost/hp.

The better flowing 205cc cylinder heads that you are thinking of installing will still lower the overall boost that your engine is producing. The same goes for when you add headers, exhaust, more cubes, camshaft, and move to a higher elevation.

I have not had problems with the six rib assembly at 8 psi, keep the belt tension tight, and remember that a new belt stretches.

The stock fuel system is barely adequate at 8 psi. I would add a boost a pump when you add the heads. Since it sounds like you don't have a lot of disposable cash laying around, I would not add a head and cam combination to your car with a stock bottom end. The pistons may hold up, or they may not. It's a gamble at best. I would add a better camshaft, the boost a pump, possibly larger fuel injectors, and get the car tuned. Bob
