.....I thought I would share my new bigger BOV for my C6 . It is the new 52mm Turbosmart Race port BOV.
It will be needed it to quickly purge the 20psi of compressed air sitting in my intake tract when my throttle plates suddenly close and air has no where to go. It supports FI engines over 1500hp.
I am now waiting for the correct spring for the BOV that matches my vacuum at idle in order to dial BOV response time.
My engine vacuum is lower than a factory or mild cam car due to the larger cam I'm running. Idle vacuum is 11 hg...
I will then weld the flange on my intake piping before the MAF.
Stay tuned for a full review pics and driving videos.
im surprised you didn't opt for the HKS Race BOV....Didn't you have SSBOV?
I considered the race SSQ and the Tial unit.
After some research ,I decided on this new unit.
They claim it's the highest flowing valve on the market. Here is a video:

So what did you "end up" with on that project of yours as of yet? Anything on HP/TQ numbers????
How about head gaskets, etc. at those boost levels???
Cool BOV BTW.
What's the news, if any?
Jason, if I remember corectly.
I have been tweaking on the street to get it as close as I can so dyno rental will be minimal.
I really don't need the dyno, It's running pretty well. But ,I want to get some dyno graphs to post for you guys to see.
I have to install the new BOV and a couple other mods before I get some serious dyno #'s with the D1SC at 14-15 psi.
Then the F1R goes on and I up the anti a bit. Head gaskets are still in tact at 14psi. I do not see any antifreeze contamination so far.
If I see my heads lifting off the deck, I'll weld the damn things to the block and up the boost even more ..
It's already a handfull, I can't even imagine what the F1 head unit will do.
I will probably have to keep diapers in the car for my passengers.
If this Racelogic traction control unit works like it's suppose to ,I will be in for one hell of a ride...
Perry, nice choice on the Turbosmart BOV....I look forward to your videos sampling of this unit. I personally like the company's product line and I'm reseaching their wastegate units for an upcoming project.
Any thoughts of adding a wastegate and boost controller to your setup? Aren't the BOV/Bypass valve fixed entity in that they are open or close. Have a WG divert the compressed air much like the exhaust gases on a turbo setup and control the amount of boost in the manifold. Pulley up for max. efficient impeller speed at the engine's peak rpm and have different settings on the EBC to regulate the WG; pump or race gas, street or strip.....just a thought.

Richard you read my mind on that one.
That was the first way that came to mind before I purchased the Racelogic unit. I did a search on several forums to read about peoples setups. From what I read, the results were mixed and more people didn't fare well.
Richard,
..... even with no boost ,the tires will still go up in smoke in the first 2 gears on motor. That is why I thought the Racelogic unit would be the way to go if it works correctly
From a letter from a forum member, Steve at Stoptech in California has a Z06 with a Racelogic unit installed and is very happy with the results.
I have to go to Radio shack tomorrow and get 4 - 10k resistors for my ABS sensors and then I will start installation.
Here's the new pulley for the D1SC I'm going to try. It's a 3.4. I want to see how much boost I can crank out of this D1 before the F1R comes in. I have a couple of experiments I'm trying with some solenoids at the moment for kicks. If the results are beneficial I will post it for you guys to see.
I want to stay away from the inlet restrictors because I dont like that word when it comes to performance.

I was just watching the video on TurboSmart's website last night. I have had one of their BOV's on my WRX, and am currently using their manual boost controller on my C6... They really make a top notch product. I am looking at their dual port BOV's for my C6 to replace the plastic Bosch units... but they are just babies compared to that 52mm monster!
I recieved my new springs and flange from Turbosmart today for my BOV
I have to weld the flange tomorrow and install it.
more pics and video to come.
Heres some pics and descriptions of what I did:
I removed all but 2 allen screws and put the BOV it the vise to hold the spring pressure while removed them. Then I slowly released the vise.
Here is the BOV all apart. Note the heavy spring on the right. I have to replace it with the 2 on the left. The springs are for cars with 9-14 psi of vacuum at idle.
Getting ready to clamp it back together with the new springs installed...
Back in vise to compress springs so I can install allen bolts
.
Finished and ready to install. The old spring to the right

I just finished putting the flange for the BOV on the pipe before the MAF and installing the BOV.
I discarded the vacuum fitting that came with the unit and used a AN -6 Banjo fitting to increase hose diameter.
I did not take it for a spin yet. I will get a driving video with the new BOV and post it.. Wow this thing is responsive.
