Im new in here, so please dont ride me, ive own a twin turbo 350z for the last 3 years, and pretty much...im very tired with the car. It makes power, but the gearing and weight ration, make it impossible to race from a a dig. I have decided to sell the car and get a 07 c6. Im looking for a good form of FI, im a turbo guy myself, but having a turbo is such a headache, plus stressfull. Ide hate to buy a 40k car and nuke my motor in 2 weeks Im guessing the 05-07 engines are the same, from what i can see is a baseline of 340ish, superchargers making about 550+ and turbos kits making crazy numbers 600+. APS makes a kit for the 350z, its a very nice fitting kit, i just notice the seals on the turbo go out very fast on that kit, has anyone had a problem like this on a C6 TT kit, or overboost problem??
For the guys that are FI, how long have you been stock block, and what does a basic short block build cost if you do blow up. What kit would you recomend, i think i would prefer to SC the car, alot cheaper and easier to maintain. One thing i couldnt find out are the EMS you guys are running, can you run a full standalone on the c6, i have my old HKS vpro, i would have to hardwire it in but it has all these features, and it seems it would work http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=1965
32x32 resolution gotta love that.
How is the traction with a FI kit, can you still run from a dig, i dont really wanna have a car that runs from a 40 punch only. I havent found any traction issues, what about transmission, are these chevy trannys strong?? Can they hold this power or will i be upgrading that, and last what am i looking to spend all together with a kit, add in exhaust, fuel system (what AF do you guys run WOT on the c6) and such
I will tell you the truth, with my current set up, the only thing I am "digging" into is the pavement. In the stock form, this car is a 40 mph and up car. I even loose traction at the top of second and third. You can not punch the car at 40mph either. I am doing some research into how to combat the issue. As of right now, I have purchased Carravaggio rear quarter panels, and plan on putting atleast a 335 tire in the back. I have also contacted Sam Strano to see if he can help with this dilema. He does custom valved shocks. If you truly want a car that gets it from the dig...I'd go with an Evo.
As far the "piggy back system", I had all of mine tuned from my tuner. FI tunes cost anywhere between $500-$700. They re-write the factory computer and adjust tables. As far as the engine goes. It has been pretty strong here on the board. If you needed to build a Forged 402, you're probably looking at $5-$7 grand for a well built shortblock. I believe the tranny is good, however the clutch and rear end seem to be the weak links. I am, when it goes, going to get a stage 2 DTE rear end and Textralia Clutch. Both ECS and APS make a fuel system.
The total cost of parts...$2500 (Headers, Catted X pipe, and exhaust), minimum $6000 (supercharger kit), $1000 clutch, $750 (good gauges), $3000 (labor)...so $13,250. The widebody conversion is going to run you anywhere between $5-$10 grand...depending on rims and tires you choose. Rear end is another couple grand. Shocks I am looking at having built are going to be around another $1000. After all that, I am hoping I can shoot out of the hole!! Those are early morning rough estimates...those numbers are what I have paid thus far.
wow thats some good numbers for cheap, do you know of any creditable shops is dallas/ fort worth? What kind of air/fuel are you guys tunning to? So it would be a good idea to go with some DR with a wheel and tire set up?
If i go TT ide like a kit like this
really would like to have some open dump's, i bet they would sound wicked on a c6, but i dont think the APS does, it looks like the STS kit uses open WG, but thats alot of piping...
thank you
edit: i was gonna take it straight to the shop i go to after i bought it and had everything put on, or should i do a break in. Im just really excited to finally get a vette, sorry if i sound like a little kid. Ive always had mid 11sec cars, but they were imports, but this is a new world to me.

Boozted,
Give Patrick Sparks a call at Quality Motorsports, He's the best in town. Take it form a S/C guy, go Twin Turbo... HP Performance or APS... If you must go S/C, then ECS is the way to go... Quality Motorsports ph# is 972-754-5346... As for a forged bottom end most do 402/403c.i.: $4800 for cheap but still good stuff, $5500 for kick*ss stuff, and $7000 for all out resleaved 427 ls2. Good luck with your new ride...

THANX, i live kind of by you, would love to see your ride. I was/still thinking of having jotech motorsports do the work, but ill defiently check out those guys. Whos a APS dealer in texas?? or someone that can tune UNI-chip.
That's all I know. Why do you need a tuner for UNI-chip?
i know the APS kit has a decent tune "out the box", but I just dont trust a out the box tune, isnt APS using the unichip?? they do on a few other kits. i have a piggyback that out does most on the market, it has about everything that a standalone does
, it even tunes the car too the AF you want with the knock amp, i just dont know if i can hardwire it in, welli can i just dont wanna do it.

The out of the box tune works great, but there is a ton more on the table with a good tune. For example, the internal wastegates were set at 6.5 psi out of the box, and my car made 504 whp/496 TQ on the stock tune. With a MBC, 10.5 psi and tuning, we made 604/620. And there is still at least 100-150 HP more left in these turbos.
As far as the UNI-chip goes, I was unaware there was any C6 compatable tuning software out there by them...? Most use LS2 Edit, or HP tuners like me...

Tom, what size tires are you running on those 12" wheels??

Give Patrick a call, he does APS work, and as far as tuning HPTuner is the ONLY way to go IMHO... I had LS2 edit www.hptuners.com
I'm just wondering about your input of TT over SC. Thanks!
MM,
In short, more torque (flatter curve) and with the HP Performance kit (my favorite) there is a TON more potential over the S/C kits for BIG power 1200+ rwhp... The APS is neat too...
