Default New Bollas Intercooler Mod...

Well because I can't seem to leave things alone, here is my new intercooler mod.

I no longer have that 3" pipe going across the bottom of the fans so they are pushing more airflow to the engine block. The intercooler inlet is now on the passenger side .
It makes boost alot quicker now so much that I had to readjust the meth starting point to 7lbs insted of 6lbs.

Took it to MTI today where I had Jayson look at the tuning on it and after some small adjustment to it.
Here is what we came up with...

"Yes" 743 rear wheel horsepower on a stock bottom end LS2 block!!!
Not bad if I do say so my self

One adjustment we made was to the belt as it started to slip on one of the pulls. The other was to the fuel table.

Looks like this mod has paid off for a few more horsepower.

As of yet I have had no problems with the set up and I can not stress to you guys how important it is to have a good tuner in your corner.
Jayson"MTI" has been tuning on my vette since I bought it and he will continue to do so. He tunes it safe and reliable.
I know some of you guys think "that thing is not going to last" , but keep this in mind if your tuner is trying to get every bit out of it and does not leave you a buffer you may end up with a pile of scrap parts.
I know Jayson tunes my vette like it was his and that's why I know it will last.
I think I am done messing with it and now look to get it out to the track soon.
Thanks to MTI and Jayson again

Will you please get the APS TT kit already and start posting some "Bollas" mod too...

Congrats Dan on the new numbers, I predict 800rwhp before the end of the year.

Daniel you have to stop this man!!!! You continue to redefine what these motors are capable of. I never thought I would ever see stock bottom end make it close to 750. I was shocked when your car made 650 with no problems.

You said you moved the meth up to 7 instead of 6lbs. Wouldn't you want it to come on sooner? What do you have the max set at 10? When Jayson tunes your car with the 90/10 meth mix what is you A/F ratio at.

There is no doubt a good tuner makes a difference but at some point the bottom end is going to reach its max, but who knows where that is. Give me a call or PM when you go to the track and I will meet up with you, thanks Bro.

Smart thinking Bollas. This one is better than your first mod.

The re routing mod to eliminate some of the tubing is a great idea. It makes sense that your boost is coming on quicker because now you have less air volume to pressurize before it reaches your cylinders.

Did you re-enforce the radiator cradle with anything where you cut for the tubing route?

Also,do you know what he has your timing set at when your alky system comes on?

I'm jealous of you guys in Cali, Fla and Texas. I'm stuck here in Chicago with salt on the streets and crappy weather.

But, at least I have THE BEARS

I have some of my own home made goodies to install.

People with Prochargers will also like my new mods .

New thread coming soon.

"Big Bollas" is a good name for a 744 rwhp stock short block Vette.

Has anybody else put any more HP on a stock LS2 short block on this forum ?

Bollas, I think you are the man that holds the record.

C6dude "We have the Bears" I am from Chicago myself but had to get away from all that snow and cold ,windy azz weather

Yes I did re enforce the cradle on both sides. Here is a pic of it...

I am not the first to hit this hp number. There are a few other Blown MTI C6 vettes running around with 750 but with MTI heads. I just did'ent want to go there if I did'ent have to and save the cash for somthing else.

"Da Bears" I hope

Thanks guys
My brain is always working to make things better

I do want to say that we "MTI" could have made more out of this set up.
I had a 4" pulley that we where going to put on but after the numbers we got we decided not to as that would have taken the boost up much higher. Instead we stayed with the 4.25 pulley keeping it safe.

I guess what I am trying to say is I could have put a 3.90 pulley on this thing and made 750hp a long time ago or a 75 shot of nitrous but that's not really what I am after I am looking for the "safest way to do it with the lowest amount of boost" and parts!
Fuel issues would have come in to play as well and as of yet I have not run into any.More boost means that much more stress on the engine block and other parts as well.

BJ, I bumped the meth up because even after I was off of the throttle at 6lbs it was still spraying meth so I moved it to 7 and all was good.
So now it is set to come on at 7lbs and max out at 10lbs.
I will give you a buzz soon.

I know this LS2 may go south someday but until then I will continue to "Drive it like I stole it" when I can and the day that it does "if it ever does" you guys will know about.

Anybody interested in a 4" pulley

If I had two vettes I would Bro.
The fact is I have looked at it and it looks very well put together.
Don't tempt me with the 800hp

The blown off is still in the same spot.
I just cut 6" off of the 3" pipe to make the slip fit for the 2 connections.

Ither way it should make for a good game

That would be great give me a call when you have the time.

When Jayson dynoed the car this last time what was you overall A/F ratio and did it change from when you had the car at 700rwhp?

okay sweet. just notice the trans cooler when putting the car up....will it fit now that the pipe is gone?!?!? god i hope so! i hated cutting it out on initial install. have you modified your intercoolewr brackets at all. i am pulling them out to make some chnges to get more adjustment and see if i can get 4 bolts back in it. should be a killer game for sure. love the fact chicago won!!!! if we lost i would be pulling for them to win for sure

Congratulations on brainstorming the new mod!! It looks like your intercooler stays in the same position except that the intake is on the opposit side now, were there any fitment issues with your intercooler-to-intake connection? I assume this had no effect on air filter placement? Again, Congratulations On The Great Idea Looks like Procharger should have designed it this way While not seeing the ECS and A&A kits in front of me, this looks like something that could be done to them as well, any thoughts?

Nem.
Everything up top stays the same.
Black.
The tranny cooler should fit right back where it was.
I did'ent have to mod the brackets but you will need to move the spacers a bit to get the bumper to fit on the bottom.
You will need to move them forward on the front and back on the rear.
Vert.
13.5 A/F thats why Jayson made the change .It was down a bit.

Do you have any pictures that show the intercooler from the top viewing the routing of the charge pipe as it exits intercooler. I have A&A kit and want to see what is needed to duplicate your setup. I assume I would need to replace my FMIC in favor of a Procharger design as far as size with inlet & outlet locations. Does the Procharger intercooler outlet exit in the center(like ECS design) or the opposite side of the inlet? Thanks For Any More Info You Can Provide

fmic exits out the center so flipping it don't change anything up top. i meant the power steering cooler. it will work but i had to cut the 90's off and bend the bracket to hang it horizontal instead of verticle. replumb is with 3/8ths hose and it is setting where the old 3" intercooler pipe was running!!! i also added about another 1/2 to the front spacer of the radiator bracket. this in effect lowered the front of the radiator bracket and fixed 90% of the fitmet issues i had been having.looks like this mod is a killer as it eliminates at least 16 inchs of pipimg
