Default TWIN TURBO c6/z06?

Im gauging curiousity as im about to pick up a new vette for myself and i would like to do a setup like this. How many people would be interested in a COMPLETE twin turbo kit for both c6 and z06 created by one of the worlds largest and most renowed turbo kit and aftermarket parts manufacturers that is the following.....

1) CARB LEGAL, (emissions compliant)
2) No normal drivablity issues under daily driving
3) no modifications made to the factory wiring
4) Normally aspirated-like spool time (almost INSTANT)
5) horsepower rating above that of supercharging
6) with a TRUSTED name in corvette performance doing the tuning for them?
7) fit and finish BEYOND that of available systems that have ever been produced
8) with a price tag under $9000

NOTE: this is mere speculation, but would like gauge interest in what i would like to do to my own car to see if im indeed weird, or if there are other people that would like to see this happen

I would really hear what you guys have to say. Ive been away from corvettes for some time

I got everything above over 6 months ago. It's a little late in the game, but better late than never. Good luck in your ventures, as you know, there is quite a bit of competition out there...

Denis,

I'm glad to hear your getting back in the "Corvette" game I've seen the custom work that comes out of your shop and it's very impressive, props to you & Brian!!! I look forward to hearing more about the TT kits, I'll stop by the shop when I get to your neck of the woods.

Good luck with your TT endeavors!!!

I would certainly be interested and would make the drive from the bay area to Orange County for a TT installation like that on my C6.

To the best of my knowledge (i may have missed something) but aps turbo kits are not 50 state CARB legal (which is a big thing to me if i get pulled over......which i most likely will) and they do not yet have an application for z06, only c6 ,due to the oiling systems being different and other minor changes from what i have heard. I would simply go out and buy a kit if they met all of this criteria. As im located in southern california, emissions is a big deal here.

Thanks for the props man. I love your car! One of my favorite vettes so far in the shop. Did your old shop ever fix your boost controller vacuum issue? I want to get your machine back on the dyno

Denis, yes EBC is working fine now and the car goes in the shop for the upgraded actuators this week! I'll holler at you guys when I get a chance to stop by your shop.

That's true, the APS C6 system does not have a CARB EO number which can be a problem for CA C6 owners though should not be a problem for the vast majority of C6 owners in other US states as the APS TT system will pass the federal IM 240 hot engine ''sniffer test''. That said I don't belive that it's reality to gain a CARB EO for a C6 performance based twin turbo system unless the manufacturer is prepared to make some huge compromises with engine performance or durability of the twin turbo system for the following reasons,

A) The original cat converters must be retained in the factory stock position and this is only possible by either fitting tiny turbos in the engine bay which will severely limit power output or,

B) By fitting the turbochargers after the cats which is very dangerous from an engineering perspective as the factory cats won't in most instances handle the increased exhaust gas temp. In this sitaution the cats are very likely to fail causing expensive damage to the turbine wheel and turbine housing. Not an ideal situation imo.

It's easy to talk about a CARB EO for a twin turbo system when you say it quickly........the reality is a thorough engineering investigation reveals many significant compromises in terms of performance and durability.......ones that APS were not prepared to make.

Peter
