Anyone done FI on a built 427?
I have an MTI built 427 motor that I am thinking of bumping up to FI. Anyone done one of these? I am leaning towards the APS TT or Maggie. Looking for any feedback out there.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I might be wrong, but I didn't think a maggie could flow enough for a built 427. We have a C5 around here that ran a maggie for years on the 350...he went to a 427 and could not get enough airflow.

i don't believe the aps is gonna worl on anything much over a 402. the best beat for big cubes is procharger or vortec blowers as you can get a bigger blower for the bigger cubes

... and just what pray-tell are you going to do with an F/I Devil Ray? 600 ponies is not enough for you? You are a sick man Mr. Dunn!
To echo a few other posts, the current 112 Maggie won't do you much good. The upcoming 122 may be a better bet, but I'm not sure how much boost you'll want to run on the 12:1 CR. I know my boys at LPE were working on some new projects around the 122 Maggie. You might try calling Jeff Myers to see if he can recommend something for you.

Try the HP Turbo Kit
For a FI 427, I would do the KB 2.8 or the HP 70+ mm turbo kit.
APS WILL NOT flow enough air for those cubes. It will "fall flat" on it's face after spooling.
I don't think Eaton has a big enough "blower" for those cubes yet either.
A centrifugal will probably generate too much heat over 800 rwhp, without alot of intercooling.
Not sure about the KB at 427 cid, but it is a "killer" as far as power curve goes, if it does indeed work.
Either way you are going to have way too much car for the street or a road race course with a 427cid FI unless the boost is WAY down.
On the strip though with a built automatic trans and some BIG pre-loaded turbos, you will own!!!!
My .02
Good luck!

Can you give cam spec that made 1080hp with GT 30's? There are many posts about this size not running big ci and as I'm using a 427 is cam spec critical?
thanks

And, Doug... - what can I say. HP is addictive. I am torn now between the APS TT, a 150 wet shot, or the larger maggie...
What to do???!!!

Thanks Peter. Any preview on what the 427 TT kit will put out? What kind of boost? If you guys need a test car for this, give me a call - twdunn@fuse.net
