Default Cars for sale section rules - please read

We have had problems lately with a few members that have taken it upon themselves to criticize prices that others ask for cars. If you don't like the price that a private member or a supporting dealer is asking for a car, then don't buy it!

Do Not attack the price, or refer people to another car for sale/dealer, in that person's thread! That is inconsiderate behavior and it will not be tolerated. It is grounds for removal of user points and even removal of posting rights.

If you have an issue take it to email.

Thanks Troy.....this will seriously help out a lot! I hate it when all threads are filled with "price insults". It makes people not want to post ads anymore.

To quote the famous Bill McNeil from Newsradio: "Kudos, and kudos again!"

:p: :D

I agree.
I found my C5 on this forum. The discussions I had with the previous owner were in private.

If you don't like the price, contact them. If you still don't like it...move on :D

Thanks for the posting. Its good to hit the RESET button from time to time. There are plenty of other areas where people can vent, or give their opinions.

Do you think that the extremely steep discounts has to due with "bui;lding" their allocation amounts with GM for the future C-6??? This is what my area dealers feel they are doing....blow out the final two C-5 model years and they will have the largest allocation of C-6's probably in the USA. I wonder how much they will discount a C-6???? In fact, I would buy a C-5 now from them (with the $5k discount and $2002 Rebate) IF THEY WILL DISCOUNT A C-6 to me now on a "pre-order"....what do you think???

If Maxie Price is able to offer cars at a cheaper price, and therefore get more business, then good for them. It's how a free market works is it not? If you don't like it there is always the option of moving to a country with heavily regulated business practices.

It may be true that anyone purchasing from them will probably not get the same level of service that they might have gotten from other dealers that have a presence on this forum, but that's a trade-off that they will have to decide on. It's not up to anyone here to decide if it's "fair" or not, that's ridiculous.

Back to the original thought, I definitely agree with Troy. Anyone publicly criticizing someone's asking price is actually doing themself more harm than they are the seller. They are making it obvious that they have absolutely no business skill whatsoever.

Just my $.02.

Thanks Troy! Maybe this'll also do away with the same few guys asking over and over again "Why you selling?" when they really aren't interested anyway. :seeya

Wasn't gonna get into this one, but...

I agree with Troy that members shouldn't attack the price of a member's or supporting dealer's Corvette. I also think that this courtesy should be extended to not attack the member or supporting dealer. I'm sorry, Matt, but I don't feel that your statement is fair or justifiable:

"It may be true that anyone purchasing from them will probably not get the same level of service that they might have gotten from other dealers that have a presence on this forum, but that's a trade-off that they will have to decide on."

I don't feel that my level service has changed in any way. I hope my customers would agree.

Monica,

I never claimed that your level of service had changed in any way. I was mainly referring to Karl and Ken and others, dealers that have been part of this forum since I can remember, and long before MaxiePrice ever thought of advertising here. I think of all the time and effort that those two put into the forum, in addition to the service they provide when actually making a purchase, and the fact that I've never heard of a dis-satisfied customer of theirs...all those things put them at the top of the list in my opinion. One of those dealers is such a valuable resource to this forum that they even gave him his own Subsection here, and that speaks volumes.

You guys might have a very good reputation and treat customers well, I am not questioning that, but I just haven't seen anything that would put MAXIEPRICE above at least Karl or Ken in those areas.

What I was basically saying is that typically you will have a choice between a volume dealer that can sell for less than a smaller dealer that moves less inventory because they operate their business in a more personal or intimate manner, taking extra time to go over various options and details that a larger dealer just isn't able to provide. I have found that to typically be the case, and was the point of my post. Like I said, it may or may not be the case here though, that's why I used terms like "may be" and "might have. I just wanted to point that out because it's an important thing that too often gets overlooked when comparing two things by price alone.
