WANTED: Z06 or Grandsport
Looking for either a Z06 or Grandsport
Requirements
Z06: Must be 2009-2012. Clean title. Less than 30k miles. I’m open to modified cars with fixed heads but not interested in something with a built motor or forced induction.
Grandsport: 2012-2013 (maybe a 2011). Manual only. Clean title. Less than 50k miles. I would prefer something with a nice heads and cam package but nothing to crazy.
Colors: (Regardless if it’s a Z06 or Grandsport): Red, Cyber grey, Jet stream blue, inferno orange or night race blue.
The closer to Iowa, the better.

Guys, it really helps to know C6 Z06's before you criticize others for not understanding what is posted by looking for evidence that shows the truth. I took the trouble to look at the picture corvettewill posted and my eyes perked up. First off, all C6 Z06's are 6 speed manuals unless someone changes out the transmission after the fact. So why call it a M7. I noticed it was advertised as a 2011, the first year for the $9,500 Z07 option. Then I noticed it appeared to have Competition Grey ZR1 wheels, also a part of the Z07 package. Those 19 inch front wheels are necessary in order to clear the 15.5 inch diameter Carbon Ceramic brake rotors. Factory 18 inch fronts won't clear. Finally I noticed what appeared to be blacked out headlights and a black roof along with black ground effect aero. The former was a $590 option first introduced in 2011 (I was recently corrected on this myself which is how I learned.) The latter represent another first for 2011, the $4,000 CFZ Carbon Fiber Package which includes black painted ZR1 carbon fiber ground effects including a chin spoiler and CF roof.
To make sure I wasn't mistaken I took the trouble to contact the dealer at the number listed. He was very helpful and he fully confirmed my suspicions. He also indicated this was an unmolested two owner vehicle in very good condition that unfortunately sold yesterday. In all likelihood, somewhere along the line before it was put here the car was identified as a M7 which it clearly could not have been from the factory when it should have said Z07. Depending on which interior option this car has the MSRP would have been very close to $100K. A 3LZ interior would have just exceeded $100K with the options I have described along with delivery. I know because I own one in Inferno Orange equipped exactly that way.
Despite the 30,026 miles, I call this a screaming deal assuming all else was as represented, not "outrageously expensive". It was one of only 740 C6 Z06's with the Z07 package. Super rare. I am sure some of you who have never owned a Z07 will argue about my estimate of its current value and you are entitled to disagree. But most of us who have owned them and are aware of current market pricing would feel differently. In a book I own that describes the behind the scenes thinking at the factory on creating the Carbon Editions and the Z07 package, discussions involved creating the ultimate handling C6 Z06 for the track. My belief is they achieved exactly that for a stock factory C6 Z06. Nurburgring times for these cars on the same tires and almost the same day as the 133 horsepower advantaged ZR1's might indicate you could leave off the Z06 part of that statement and still be very accurate but I will not open that hornet's nest here.
The post, I assume made in an effort to help, by corvettewill turned out to be a great tip for the OP but probably not in enough time to help him take advantage of as it turned out. It probably took me a total of 10 minutes and one phone call to discover all this. I have spent 3 times that amount of time trying to draft this accurate response and type it (thank you Agent Orange Parkinson's). Just thought everyone should know the real truth except for the motives behind the original post which I have no way of knowing.
