They sent me some pics, it looked rough. They would never send me the engine number so I told them to go pound sand. They sold the car over the weekend if I'm not mistaken.

Ya, i like that one too.. if it was an ‘09 id have a hard time staying away.. Theres plenty of oil mods out there and i hear one pitfall of the Z oiling is it takes a second to warm up(autocross).. im in AZ so i need as much cooling as possible so i like the 09-10 for the divorced cooler.. I do hear btw in 11 or 12 they changed the ls7 main bearings or something to non lead and they have a big tendency to eat themselves, so you see lots of those years with replacement motors.. not sure if the problem got fixed.. Maybe ive just over researched this whole thing but you see plenty of these cars w grenaded motors.. Lots of info online regarding.. i think one safe measure would be check the oil regularly for TI levels and run an oil filter/catch so you can detect when the motors coming apart.. I would definitely not buy a car without a recent oil test btw..
:
"They have the same problem as all LS engines. Oil starvation in long high G left hand corners. The large dry sump eliminated those issues. If you aren't pulling Gs on a track using race slicks on all 4 wheels you won't pull enough Gs for a long enough time period to make it an issue."
The European Union didn't pass the bearing restriction (lead) until 2012.. The 2011 is OK.

Still looking. I appreciate everyone who has sent DMs but I did want to clarify a few things.
I'm non-negotiable on the following:
* '08+ Only - I want the TR6060 trans. Unless there's an absolute steal on 06/07, I'm not interested. (Even then, probably not)
* With the exception of the heads being fixed/upgraded and common bolt-on's (Intake, exhaust, suspension, etc.) I'm not interested if there's been major motor work. I don't care that the car is making 700+whp or will run a 9s quarter. That's not what I'm looking for.
* I'm located in Cincinnati, OH. If the car is not within a reasonable distance (200mile radius) I will have to fly out and likely ship back. All that affects the price I'm willing to pay.
* $40k is about as high as I want to go. I know these cars are special but before the pandemic, these were going for mid 30s, I realize the market is crazy but it's on the decline and buyers can't be expected to pay $45k+ for 10+ year old cars forever.
While I'd like to pull the trigger on one sooner than later, I'm not willing to bend on what I want and will wait, if needed. Truth be told, I could already have one if I wanted to buy from a dealer. But I don't want to do that. I'd like to buy from a forum member who knew what they had, took care of it, and wants it to go to a good home.

I wish you a lot of luck in your search but what these cars sold for a few years ago has very little to do with what they sell for now or in the future, despite what we may desire. It is simple supply and demand. If you are willing to accept higher mileage cars (that is a relative thing since few Corvettes are daily driven) and normal wear and tear I think declining prices may well be what typically happens. If you are like me and look for lower mileage, fewer number of owners, specific model cars such as one of the 13,563 2008 and later Z06's produced, things get more difficult. Subtract cars that are very rare sub models, heavily modified, or destroyed and sold for parts and it gets tougher.
Finally the other upward pricing pressure is finding sub 3,200 pound used sports cars with over 500 horsepower, manual transmissions, and 50-50 weight balance front to rear. I believe as new cars continue to get heavier our Z06's remain an outstanding value whose prices are more likely to grow than decline. Just my view but I have had a lot of high horsepower cars and consider these to be unique. Nice Grand Sports fit you price range. Generally not Z06's but exceptions do exist. Another $5 to 10K would put you in the ballpark for much nicer versions, at least in my experience. I have bought 3 within the last year and another 3 over the 3 years before that so I have a fair amount of experience in this search.
Also I am willing to travel 2,000 miles or more if that is what is needed to get the right car. I usually drive them back or in the case of low mileage cars rent a one way Penske truck and trailer. Recently I drove a Carbon Edition part way back and then picked up a Penske truck for the last 1,000 miles to get the cost down (was less than half the cost for 1,700 miles). Shipping is easier but I don't like my cars to be in the hands of truckers if I can avoid it and being retired, I enjoy the ride back.
Just thought I would give you another experienced view for what it is worth. I also prefer the 08's and newer.
