[PA] 2009 Cyber Gray ZR1 3ZR with over 20K in new OEM parts/maintenance
I bought the ZR1 in April of 21, and just don't have the time to use it anymore.
The dealer I bought it from offered a guarantee on all their vehicles, even wear and tear items like brakes, suspension, etc, and included a warranty. When I bought It I took it to a Chevy dealer with had a tech who specialized in ZR1s, I asked him to go through the entire car and flag anything and everything that "could" need maintenance or replacement in the near future. Being that the ZR1 was in very good condition and drove well it was going to be hard to ask for replacement of anything, so I figured the worst they can say is no the car doesn't need anything.
The idea was to target the high $ ZR1 parts that typically need replacement sometime in the vehicle's life, and if they agree to 20% of it great. It didn't seem like it was going to be possible as the warranty company and the selling dealer were very surprised that ZR1 OEM parts cost so much and there wasn't really anything wrong with this ZR1. After lots of discussions with the warranty company and me calling them daily for status updates, they finally agreed to nearly everything I asked for... even the wear and tear items (not even kidding). To be completely honest 90% of warranty work wasn't even needed as it was in good shape, but I wanted a ZR1 that I knew wasn't going to need a $5,000 supercharger, or $8,000 brake job in the future so I put the time and effort into making sure this ZR1 was as perfect as it could be.
I have invoices for everything, and all the parts and work are warrantied since it was done by a Chevy dealer.
- New OEM supercharger
- New Intercooler bricks
- New OEM front shocks
- New OEM rear struts
- New OEM carbon ceramic front rotors
- NEW OEM Front pads
- Rear dif service
- Brake fluid service
- Alignment
- New OEM Front carbon splitter
- New OEM Carbon side skirts
- Hoses, belts, and various gaskets
The warranty company negotiated with the dealer and it still came to $20,000, retail would have cost you over $25,000! This means no carbon rotors to worry about, no suspension, no blower worries it's all brand new!
46,500 miles
3ZR trim level
No accidents, clean carfax
Looks and drives great, with no major chips or scratches.
Tires have only 3,000 miles on them
The interiors is in very good condition, the dash has no wrinkles in it and everything works correctly
The driver seat bolster has some wear from the previous owner, I was never able to find a new upper seat cover.
Asking $64,000

I'm shocked that a warranty company would agree to pay for replacement parts when they hadn't even failed yet....GLWS

Lucky for me this was a big box very corporate dealer, who also owned the warranty company. Their vehicles come with a money-back guarantee period, and buried deep in their terms of sale with the money-back guarantee there was language that allowed me to seek replacement of nearly everything, including wear and tear items that have not reached failure. The catch was they only give you a window of a few days to get the claim started...so I had to act fast and get the request in ASAP. I planned for this and had the dealer on standby, as soon as the vehicle was dropped off at my home it was at the dealer (200+ miles away) within a few hours.
They most likely build in that "x" in "x" vehicles will receive repairs during that money-back guarantee period, what I believe they failed to be aware of is what a ZR1 actually is and its cost of parts. They typically sell your average commuter cars, when they became aware of what a ZR1 brake rotor costs their mind was boggled lol. It also helped to have the right dealer/tech review this car and write up the RO. This was a very involved process of me working with the dealer company and warranty company, it went through their senior leadership and legal before they agreed to nearly everything I was asking for. I'm sure they have updated their terms and language by now.

The blower had a core so that was out, but I asked for the rotors back and they never got back to me after asking twice. I assume a tech took them with him or they became garage art for someone.
