SPSandman, I have gone to Houston twice as well as Kansas City, MO for 3 of my cars in the last 4 years. And returned to CT. Flew out and drove two of them back. One of them I flew out and trailered it back. I own an IO 2011 Z07 that is almost the twin to this car except for the color ($45 difference in original sticker but I bought mine used in Kansas City). It is currently my favorite car. With the Forgeline wheels the OP has, that car is almost down to a 3,100 lb curb weight. Incredible handling with the reduction in unsprung weight from the Carbon ceramic brakes and forged wheels along with the control from the magnetic shocks. I would say this version, along with the Carbon editions, are the pinnacle of the C6 Corvettes. Not to knock the ZR1's with that incredible supercharger ( I also own a 2010 CR ZR1) that have a low end to die for but I really notice the extra 200 lbs that car carries. Find a way to do a deal if you are close enough in price. Don't let the 1,300 miles keep you from Corvette Nirvana.
Best of luck,
Keith

Wanted to add numbers to two things I said. The reduction in unsprung weight for the front wheels is 13 lbs for the CC rotor (stock Z06 rotor weighs 26 lbs vs 13 for CC) and the Forgeline's weigh between 6 and 7 lbs less than the stock wheel. Taking almost 20 lbs off each front wheel and brake assembly is huge. Very noticeable change in handling and ride. Also removing 20 lbs of rotating mass positively impacts acceleration as well.
I did a Mapquest for the distance between his location in TX and yours when I did my post. It appears to be only a few miles above 1,300. Check it out. I go through Fredericksburg several times a year. I keep my sailboat stored in Deltaville, VA for the summer so I can enjoy my Corvettes.
Finally I switched from a GS to a Z06 5 years ago. I kept telling myself 70 HP difference wasn't that much. Man, was I wrong. I had missed the almost 200 lb weight saving (more than that between your car and the OP's). Also missed the difference in feel of the extra 500 RPM's and the small change in gearing. The Z06 seems to rev forever while pulling like a freight train. Could never go back after that. For a brief moment or two yesterday I debated making a run at this car myself. Just couldn't justify owning two Z07's no matter how much I love them. Crystal Red is one of my most favorite colors (along with Inferno Orange).
Good Luck

when I bought this car, I flew to Columbus Oh from Dallas, did the paperwork and drove it home the with a stop at the Corvette museum. It was an awesome trip to get this beauty. This car is the epitome of performance and was a purpose ordered car. The ZO7 was built on the proven ZO6 platform but improved the performance characheteristics mimicking the ZR1. The ZR1 is a monster and an excellent car but the ZO7 offered similar if not better performance on a track at a lower price point. At least that is what some ZR1 owners and other corvette enthusiasts have told me.
I promise this car will not disappoint its new owner. She is a beast and well cared for
