WTT - 08 Viper SRT 10 Coupe Black for Z06
#23
This has 600 ponies and is a show stopper anywhere you go. Why would you wanna trade?
Please let us know the low points to driving/owning this animal. This will help me get back to sleep...after four years of spending nights up thinking of how to own a 600hp viper.

I'm offering the Viper in order to get into a Z06 because it has become just too hard to get in and out of. My knees aren't what they used to be and the gymnastics and contorting required to enter/exit this monster have become too painful. Once I'm in the car, it is great - great seats with good instrumentation and controls layout. The car drives flawlessly and the power is incredible. But it's the getting in and out that is a huge problem for me.
The Corvette door opening is larger and the roof height is higher offering easier access and egress. I've tried both side by side and the Vette is night and day better for me in that respect.
The Gen IV Viper (2008-2010) is an incredible machine and has performance that fears nothing. Part of its character and soul is its raw, brutal nature - no traction control, no cruise control, harsh ride, noisy cockpit, hard to see out of, etc. Some may see these as negatives; for the Viper, it is what it is and it makes no excuses or apologies. The car demands that you drive it with focus and that you drive it with respect because it can and will definitely bite you hard.
For me, I've had the pleasure of owning this car for a season and I've never had anything like it before. Just this past Sunday I had the occasion to tangle with a gorgeous black/red stripe 2013 Shelby - 662 HP - on the street from a roll. The driver kept begging for it (pulling alongside, gunning it, etc) so we rolled.
The Shelby jumped first but before the Viper even got to 5000 rpms in 2nd the Shelby was a ~car length back and fading. The acceleration in this car is violent and even when it was nearing the top of 2nd, the rear tires were starting to lose traction. It is unreal.
The Shelby driver then decided to stay back after we backed out of it, not coming up on the Viper again to rev his motor, etc. He then turned off the road behind me and I never saw him again. Funny how that works out...
When it was over, my buddy riding with me begged me to warn him the next time as he had no idea how brutal it was going to be. This car is a monster.
I love the Corvette and especially the Z06. I was looking for a Z06 when I came across this Viper and bought it instead because of its character and uniqueness. It actually has exceeded every one my expectations in performance and enjoyment. Honestly, I'm torn about getting rid of it because it is what it is; raw, brutal, extremely powerful, does not play well with others, and is very rare. You will not see another one like it at your next cruise in or car show.
But I do need to get something that is easier for my 59 year old knees get in and out of.
I don't want to have to hurdle the huge door sill while trying to clear the hot side exhaust pipe while ducking my head to clear the low roof and twist/fold my knees just trying to get out of the car. But I guarantee you that if my knees were 100%, I would not even consider this.
So - a low-mile Z06 is what I want. But know this - I will miss this Viper if it goes. It is like no other car I've ever owned in many, many respects and I've owned a lot of high performance cars.
If someone else does end up with the car, I know they will not be disappointed. And, if I don't find the deal I want or get the price the car is worth, I will keep it, get knee surgery at some point in the future and enjoy it.
The Viper experience is that incredible. Probably even worth surgery I guess...

Bump for a fellow viper owner. I have a 2000 ACR 1 of 35 in solid red. Your price is right and I think it's a pretty good deal for someone looking for a viper. I could never part with my Gen II, I think about it but everything that's "wrong" with the gen II is what I love. It's raw, unrefined, and while there are more powerful machines on the road, there is no matching the Gen II looks in my opinion. Your viper is beautiful and good luck with the trade. I think it's a pretty good value proposition for some folks. It just may take a bit longer since the gen V is fresh as are the 2014 C7s coming out.
One thing for the Z06 members to maybe consider when deciding to trade is the resale value. The viper will hold it's value pretty well.

I WANT THIS!!! Was going to buy one about 6 months ago but was convertible. Also was a 2005 or 2006 and the bank was giving me a hard time to finance the amount due to the year. Their cutoff was at 2006, but this one is a 2008. I will talk to my bank and see how they feel about this one. I have heard these engines are known as "bulletproof" cause pretty much nothing can stop them... Very good for a monster like this!
