Here is the deal....KBB is not an offer but many car dealers advertise selling/trading cars and their own web pages provide links to kbb...
When its that way you just bitch slap them right back at their own game....Simple really. I 've never gotten less than KBB excellent on any trade I've made in the last decade...At least five or six times lol..
They like to bring up Manheim auctions too. They want to use the lower average of stripper and high mileage cars to make you an offer...You just say go find my car in there...Its up there is price every time.
Knowledge is power.

I agree with you that the auction is definitely sonething dealers use.
Also, I commend you for getting top dollar for your trade-ins.
However, I have also had dealers tell me, " I cant give you top dollar for your trade and sell you my car for bottom dollar"
If you want to use the higher price for your car, I want higher price for mine.
Basically, you hang yourself.
But I was mainly refering to person-to-person deals.
Because very few people I know "beat the dealer at their own game"..Even if they think they did.

I do choose carefully who I deal with and usually getting supplier discounts or better so yea I 'm trying not to get beat on either end... There are a lot of dealers where you can make good deals if you do all your homework...

Will the C6 Z06 prices drop now with the starting price of the new Z at only $78.995?

lol, I can promise you my dealer knows more than 99.9% of us. When your dealer sells the most Corvettes in the country, has 2 Corvette Specialist on staff, 1 of them is first on the list for the C7Z and the owner has the biggest collection of #1 serial number GMs out there....yes they know, way more than us.
And I find it funny that you would think that regular car enthusiasts that cruise on the internet would know more than the guys that make the orders and deliver the cars. You might find out the weight or a statistic before them but as far as allocations and ordering I think not. They are ready to place orders and move cars, hell they have 90 people in line there alone.

If you don't get KBB selling or buying your getting ripped off....period.
KBB is a good estimate and you should attain close to that estimate if you don't then your getting raped...
Now trade ins....is a different story ...everyone gets raped on a trade in...but list it up on autotrader, cars.com, ebay etc etc ...and you should sell close to KBB.

I was thinking I would be in a market for a 2011 Carbon Edition Z06 at first, then I seen the prices on the ZR1's starting to fall, now today the price comes out on the C7 Z06 and the way I would configure my car it would come out to $98,635 before my discounts. Still that's going to be over 100K + fees. I guess sit tight and see if I can pick up a 2010 or 2011 ZR1 with low miles at good price if it comes, and if not it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to have one or not. I'm sure C6 Z06 prices will take a hard dive.

I'm glad I bought both of mine slightly used at massive reduction from MSRP.
A loaded up C7Z is bumping up against $100K... and then you gotta pay taxes on that too. But still cheaper than what I thought it would be.

Bottom line is this, buyers do not have to accept less than they want as far as options, colors, miles, sellers don't have to accept a price less than they want to sell for.
So in the end either the seller lowers the price to attract the buyer or the buyer agrees to pay a little more or accept another color/less options they want or higher miles/less optioned car to get the price they want to pay.
Its really not a big deal if buyers don't want to pay alot or choose to for the right car, I would never buy a black car, no matter what, not would I buy a blue or white car, that is just me, I paid a little more to get an Atomic Orange with the options I wanted even though many other similar C6Z cars are available in colors I do not want.
I also bought a 2009 instead of similar 2007-2008 cars because it was a year newer and was the last year AO was offered.
I also could have saved a few $$$$ and got another color but it would not make me happy to have anything other than the AO-C6Z.
In my opinion the free market works fine as long as the buyer and seller come to a mutually beneficial sale price.
And yes I wanted a deal but the clean cars with clean history's, not tracked and not modded are still out there, and I did not want anything other than a 100% stock C6Z-A0.

I've been hunting for a Z for awhile now. I had an 09 modded cts v and I treated it like a vette. No drinks, food, pets, people in the back seat, cleaned it before putting away, etc. So I said to myself... why not just get something sleeker?
I sold my v March of this year because I knew prices would drop after the summer because the new V is going to be released. I also knew that I wouldn't be buying a Z until winter because of not only the winter market but also because people will be selling current models to get the newer ones which will drive the prices down. I don't necessarily have a budgeting issue like the op or else I wouldn't be buying a nice weather only car, I just don't want to buy high and see my *** fall out in 12 months.
