The market will bear what the market will bear - it's just simple economics.
There are plenty of reasonable buyers and reasonable sellers who will agree on a price.
If someone doesn't want to sell at a certain price point, that's their f'in business. If someone doesn't want to buy at a certain pricepoint, that too is their biz.
What's stupid is sellers calling buyers lowballers and buyers calling sellers unrealistic. One can keep his car, the other can keep his money, and both can STFU.

very true of many cars for sale on the forum, mods are an individuals taste, seldom a buyers.

I already EMBARRASSED a new C7 messing around with me on the road. I bet he doesn't come "wolfing" on a C6 Z anymore. And mine is bone stock. The dealers here have those C7's marked up so high nobody will buy them. Just sayin'............

For those of you actually looking to buy a zo6. Check autotrader. Not this site. Many 08 zo6s on there for under 40k. I've bought all my vettes from this site but 5-7 thousand difference between here and a random seller is a lot.

If you think the sellers are asking gold prices, try trading one in. You'll be offered tin prices. You wouldn't believe the lowball trade in offers I received on my 2013 427 convertible with 3400 miles on it.

Here, yes, people think they are. Best ad I've seen today was an 07 with 40k+ miles asking mid 40s.
Search dealers, they have better deals. Here's an 08 JSB by me ONE OWNER for 36k (56 on it). Once these guys have their cars up for months and months they will wake up.

Correct. I just sold my c6z for a c7 too. The only reason you would buy a c6 right now over a c7 are because of two reasons :
1. Your income bracket doesn't afford you to comfortably buy a c7. These people full of bs right now, saying how c6 is still in demand...no it's just that you are not the target market for these new c7 cars - you're too poor.
2. You found a good deal on a c6 that makes owning the less popular, old model corvette worth it for your financial situation. This is not often as prices have not adjusted to the real supply and demand....see everyone that can afford these c7's are dumping their c6's. However normally to the dealership on a trade for the c7 - that's why you don't see the good prices in the private market yet. My vette sold in 1 day - 2007 z06 blue, low miles, $36,500. I feel I got a fair price...now that doesn't mean I didn't lose money...I just don't eat the loss like an *** and tell everyone how valuable my c6 is (is not) lol. This board is full of winners!

Now THIS thread is hilarious. Guys, I have had my brand spankin new 2013 clean-as-a-whistle Z06 with 3k miles sitting at 60k for the past 3 months on this forum and still not sold. What gives? Complaints about too high?!
Reading this thread from page 1-13, I'm about to pull it and wait until summer and sell at 64k - especially with this c7z sticker expected above 100k, last I heard.
Any takers?

Why are so many low mile z06s popping up in S. Florida at dealers? I cant imagine people are stupid enough to take it in the rear like that. Tax savings or not...screwed!

The only problem I have, and this goes for cars beyond C6 Z06's, is someone telling me the original window sticker was $XX,XXX.
That is no longer relevant especially when you're dealing with a 5-8 year old car. What you paid many years ago, does not factor into the deal at all. Do a quick search on depreciation, people could learn a lot and the "window sticker" selling argument would quickly prove invalid.
Everything has a value to someone, and when two people can agree on that, a sale will occur.

i agree with OP. i copped mad **** on one of my first post on this forum bout 18 months from vette owners thinking there cars are worth more than true market value. as in what they actually sell for not what they are asking. everyone was beating up on me cause i wanted a c6z already supercharged, wheels, other mods etc for under 50k cause at that stage ppl wear asking 55ish. ppl callin me a broke ***, cant afford one, unrealistic and the likes then everyone stfu once i bought a super clean c6z unda 30k miles with a ysi blower 20/19 inch wheels, carbon fiber zr1 bits n make 725rwhp for 45k. simple fact is our Z06s just arent work what ppl think they are...especially once modified!!!

those who see used Z06s being sold at prices they don't want to pay or can't afford won't buy them, and can come here to complain.
those who are selling the used Z06s see offers that are lower than what they can accept, so they can come here to justify their price.
Selling price is determined by the market, both sides can't be blamed for trying to get a favorable deal. We're all corvette brothers here and will be on both the buying side and selling side at one point or another, might as well keep it friendly and good natured.

fwiw. and i know im gonna step on a few toes here. but a c7 and c6Z are relatively comparable across the boards. with that in mind. you CAN pick up a new c7 for mid $50K all day. what i cant understand is why the c5 prices are comparable to c6 prices...
now what the op is saying is why would he settle for a 5 year old vehicle when he can get the same taste of adrenaline with a new car smell for $5K more?
bottom line. its only worth what someone is willing to pay. and yes some people are willing to pay more than what they should. others called "low ballers" are only looking for good deals. now be it as it may, the supply and demand... kbb... nada... etc etc. but the final determining factor is the buyer... not the seller.
pony up a few extra grand for a brand new c7 or save that extra few grand and get a mid to low mileage c6Z
i should note that ive found dozens of higher mileage c6z for lower $30K
