29400 or so z06's built over 8 years 213000 vetts total over 9 years 5 years of zr1s 3000 or so out of that total. So you are not talking a lot of z06s or zr1s to buy. Oh and their is no substitue for cubic inchs. Yes 2014 may run close but that don't get you a cigar.I know that one state has more than another but it averages out 588 z06's per state 60 zr1s pers state 3600 regular vetts per state.

Having a 425hp C-2 coupe to idle around town my next vette will be base engine with toys. No need to go 150 mph, just cruise with the top down and enjoy the ride. Don't want to shift either. My right foot can take care of business. Have enough trouble keeping gawkers away from my fenders already.

Sellers on this forum are in denial.

Another question is why would anyone not wait and see what the C7 has to offer which is superior in every ways with the exception a little less hp than a Z06. Worse, one can always buy a C6/Z06 later with lower asking price.

IMO market Is overpriced I wouldn't pay more than 35k for a 50k or less miles z .

For 40k it'd have to be a garage queen with less than 10k miles iv seen cars sit so much.

Soon the prices will dump.

i agree that the used c6 Zo6 price is a little higher than I thought they would be.
lets look at this objectively?
Why are the prices high? Are they selling? (Maybe not?)
What is so great about the ZO6? Is it the image? Is it the performance? ( Cant be that because a base model vette with several thousand dollars of the right mods can beat the stock Z--yep I said that)
I am going with the image. So if that is correct--then we all know how fragile an image is.
I recently sold a highly modified rotary engine car that I had been driving and tracking for the past 10 years. I am looking for the right vette to buy. I thought I wanted a C6 Zo6--now I am not so sure. The issues with the heads, the possible oil starvation issue and a couple of other things has me rethinking. This will probably be the last car I will ever buy--i am getting old. So, I am being careful to educate myself as best as possible before I get the one.
Power isnt everything, and with the improvements in the lubrication system etc the C7 brings---IDK. It's getting hard to make a decision.

The double standard that exists here is pretty funny. If your offer is subjectively perceived as not high enough, your written off as a "lowballer", a borderline curse word among gearheads.

However, if your asking price is through the roof, and your car has been sitting for the last 2 years, the first person to point out your pricing error gets absolutely flamed for interfering with a 'sale'.

In the end, both examples boil down to greed, so why does the buyer receive the brunt of the criticism?

But, the good news is that there are plenty of folks who are serious about selling their cars, and price them rationally. The reason you never see them? Because they sell within a day or two, and the overpriced cars sit for months or years. On the other side of the coin, serious buyers are tough to find for the same reason, it's called adverse selection, the serious buyers and sellers find each other pretty quickly, and the market is filled with all the rest.

I'm not saying the Z06 is the right car for your needs - I don't know. But in response to the above , a large part of the appeal of the Z06 is performance , and your reasoning regarding modifying a base model does not hold entirely true: I recently bought a used 08 z06 and almost - in it's stead - bought a new grand sport thinking that I'd supercharge it to get Z06 performance. The reason I ended up either the used Z is that 1) money spent on mods is not reflected at all at time of re-sale and 2) those mods void the warranty, which many of us value. I got a certified pre-owned Z06 with 6,000 miles and purchased 4 years of GMPP, and prefer this situation over a supercharging a new(er) Grand Sport and not having a warranty.

For the cost - say 40-50K, I don't know of a better value in regards to stock performance + daily driveability than a Z06.

I love my 2012 3LZ. Buying it nearly new last year with 6700 miles on the clock, I paid a pretty penny, but much less than the first owner. The car was and is 99% flawless and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Great balance of power, agility, and driveability. And a ton of warranty left.

A GS starts out heavier due to the steel frame (vs. aluminum in the ZO6). Slap a supercharger kit on it and it gets distinctly nose heavy. Already not able to handle as well as a ZO6, it gets even worse.

Yes, even a GS with a moderate level of boost will pull away from a ZO6 in a straight line, so it that what a buyer is after then go for it.

Brian Reckart is a good friend of mine and he just finished up a 2007 LS2 'vert build. He installed a blower cam and an A&A kit for the customer. 670 RWHP! And that's with only an LS2 motor. It's a rocket ship and even has really good manners.

Anyway, a GS or even a base coupe with a properly installed and tuned blower kit is still a great ride, it's just not a ZO6.

With the c7 power numbers released and its 460 TQ, 5 shy of the c6z, I expect prices to drop significantly over the next few months

Not to mention it comes with an all aluminum frame too. So c7 base starting at 52k with a full warranty etc or a c6z for 40-50, no warranty, volatile ls7 engine...
