The new C7 has been leaked, and honestly it looks pretty damn good.

It will sell well once the "have to have it first" guys get in and out. once decent financing arrives, the used C6/Z06 markets will flood, driving prices down.

Honestly, if it looks as good as the leaked R&T photos in C7 forum suggest (along with the Z51 magnetic ride/brakes options) and performance specs... I might give it serious consideration. The interior also looks to be substantially upgraded and I hope to see something like Cadillac's "Cue" nav system in the new model which will really help things. C4 anod C5 history will repeat again from a used/resale value standpoint. the only question that remains is... "how much?"

Good luck everyone with your searches.

So I also have access to Mannheim auctions, above is the summary of model year 08 z06. I copied and pasted but you can figure it out

I would also like to me mention that I own a sw c5 z and I paid all the money it could be worth because it is what I wanted.

Last time I was at manheim nj I saw a few cars sell for well above kbb and galves so auction prices do not always matter as much as people think. I am a firm believer that a car is only worth what the buyers are willing to pay for them- not what the seller thinks they are worth.

I just want to make sure I'm reading it right: The average 2008 Z06 sold at Manheim has 24k miles and sells for $43,000? Is that just Manheim NJ or is that nationwide? I'm looking at a 2008 right now and the dealer keeps telling me "This will get at least 45k at auction!" and I figured they were lying.

Does anyone on this website use Autotrader? There are a ton of low mileage, well optioned '08s to be had for <$43,000.

The masses will want you to think otherwise as it's their depreciating investment. Dealers have to eat and so do private sellers. It is what it is, folks.

Buy low, sell high. You've gotta pay to play.

What I love are all of the modded Z's that shorten engine life, cause the valves to fail, greatly depreciate the value of your car, after you've tracked and beaten the cars you now want to drop these problems in someone else's lap, and they want to be reimbursed by marking them up. Hilarious. These beat up Z's should be carfaxed and disclosed it was beat up. Anyone buying one is a sucker.

The C7 base isn't exactly the end-all-be-all of sports cars. Everyone is just hyped up because it was just released. In a month or two people will start to come back down to earth.

For the foreseeable future (for about two years), the C6 Z06 will still be the second fastest behind only the ZR1. You're going to see a bunch of proud new C7 owners that just dropped 65k on their base model getting smoked by C6 owners. Eventually the mods will come in and a new C7 variant will be out and they'll catch up, but it will take some time.

Also, there's the strange fact that not every person in the world is in love with how the C7 looks. A lot of us actually think the C6 Z06 now looks like the sleeker, more sophisticated, more grown-up version of the Corvette, while the C7 looks like a "boy racer" Hot Wheels car with all its scoops, vents, spoilers, creases, etc.

I'm planning on picking up a C6Z at a discount, and I'll happily drive a car that cost 25k less than the new C7 base while still outperforming it in every aspect. Around 2016, that should start to change, but not yet.

With the ls7's if its modded the rite way it could extend the life of the motor.
Plus most modded cars on here are dyno queens anyway . So how many modded ls7's dropped valves vs stock ones

*** this does NOT mean this is all these cars are worth- or that they are worth this much at all. this is what dealers paid for them at an auction, dealers make mistakes and lose their asses all the time- and dealers get them them dirt cheap all the time.. this is what is called wholesale and people should not expect to pick a car up at wholesale, more like kbb private party or a little over wholesale- buying a car at full retail is just not a good thing either.

i am no expert, but i always consider what the insurance pays out on the car if it is totalled- that is the HIGHEST value a car should ever be sold at, unless it is very rare or a collectors car- like a mkiv toyota supra insurance will give around 16k for a 94 turbo supra, but you will not find a decent one for less than 25k$

** buying a privately owned z is usually a much more reassuring feeling then buying one that went through an auction- you are looking the seller right in the eyes and talking through it rather than just bidding and leaving with it- no known history of the car. that is worth a little bit to me at least.
