I was thinking of flying in and buying a car until I read the sales tax thing how are you guys getting away with charging sales tax to out of state buyers? isnt it illegal to be taxed twice on the same item?

(often the sales tax is collected at point of sale, then forwarded to your state of residence. Not sure how "driving it home" means you lose the difference - but I bought my car out of state and the dealer calculated Ohio sales tax for the sale; I was not charged twice.)

thats not the way it is worded, it says "If you would like to fly in and drive the car home, you will have to pay 8.25% California sales tax. You can have the car shipped from our dealership to your state and you won't have to pay the 8.25% California sales tax." I have bought many a car out of state and they have done exactly how you stated calculated nevada sales tax and forwarded it to my state but they have never charged the sales tax for the state I bought the car in so calif sales tax is 8.25% and nevada is 6.8% where is the other 1.45% going on a 65k car thats about a grand.
