WTB: 06-08 COUPE in ARIZONA – preapproved loan (Long Post)
I am getting frustrated with my corvette search. I find one I like, test drive and let the owner know I am interested. I have a pre-approval and just have to run the Vin# through the underwriter at the bank. A process that seems to take about 24 hours.
Two times in the last 2 weeks I have missed out on getting the cars, because people zoom in and buy them during the 24 hour period. Looking back, maybe I should have made a deposit, but I never realized how quickly people buy cars without even seeing them. I lost one to Texas and one to Detroit.
So I figured it would not hurt to see if anyone reading this forum happens to have something I would be interested in.
I will start by saying my loan amount is in the high 20’s, that way if this number is too low, I will not waste your time by making you read all the way to the bottom. I have another 2 weeks on the preapproval. I know it is easy to do again, but if I do not find something in that time frame, I think I will wait till fall and get a newer one.
Here is what I hope to find:
Year: 2006 and up
Mileage: Here is where I will lose some of you. I have been finding some nice 06-07 in my price range with around 10k miles. This is what I most hope for, but I am aware people drive their cars. I do not think I would purchase one above 20k miles.
Color: Not too important, I do have preferences, but all corvettes look amazing in any color
Transmission: Not important. I do love the manual, but the recent knee surgery has me thinking.
Interior: Prefer a version of 2-tone. Ebony is great, but cashmere would be my last choice.
Options: The more the better, but I understand they come with a price.
Mods: I am not interested in a heavily modified car. Nothing that would void a warranty. Items like intake or exhaust are fine. Anything not related to performance, but to beautify, like calipers, rims, spoilers are perfectly fine.
Location: Arizona only please. Sales tax from an out of state purchase takes me above my budget. But hey, if you want to soak the 8% I’ll let ya. Also, no dealerships, same idea with the tax.

If you think you have something I would be interested in let me know. I would like to get the vin# (for Carfax) and have you answer the questions below.
Are you the original owner of this car?
If the car is out of factory warranty, does it have any extended warranty that is transferrable? Is this included in the price of the car?
Do you have the dealership service/warranty history of the car? This is printed by a Chevrolet dealership and it lists all services performed on the car through the dealership.
Do you have the maintenance history for items not done through a dealership? (oil changes, tire rotation, body work etc…)
Has all required maintenance been performed on the car? Is there anything the car will need done in the near future?
Has the car ever been in an accident? Flood? Fire?
Has there ever been any paintwork, no matter how small. If so please explain.
Has this car ever had a salvage or buyback associated with it?
Have you had all recall items fixed; roof delamination, crank-pulley bolt , if pertaining to your year of car?
Any minor cosmetic issues with the car? (little items that are not that big of a deal like minor wear on the seats, scuffs on the shifter, small scratch on a fender, stone chips, nose scuffs or curb rash etc…)
Have there been any modifications to the car of any type? (engine work, intake, exhaust, ipod hookup, window tint, splash guards, floor mats, etc…) Mechanical or cosmetic of any type.
In your estimation what is the condition of the tires? Or if you have installed new tires, what type and condition? Are they run-flats?
Are there any items that may accompany the car if it is purchased? (car cover, jacking pucks, accessories, etc…)
Has the car ever been smoked in?
Has the car ever been to a track? This is not really a negative for me, just curious as to times or feelings of how it performed.
Do you hold the title, or is it under control of a company you finance through?
Is there any flexibility in the price you are asking? I hope that both parties, buyer and seller, can be satisfied with the final transaction in all cases.
What is the vin # of your car?
I thank you for your time and if I find your car to be one I hold interest in I would love to arrange a visit for an inspection and test drive. I am sending this list of questions to other corvette owners and may need a little while to compile all of the responses, compare and choose.
