I guess I should make this my intro thread as well . Hello, my name is Sean....ok now that we are all friends I have been trolling this site for a few weeks now and decided my best bet to find answers would be to ask those who know. So I guess my first question is, are suspension parts interchangable between c5's and c6's? I ask this because I have been seriously considering building a GTM, but I would like to use c6 Z06 parts instead of c5 parts. I know the ls7 motor can be used (with "special" parts) but I am unaware if all the c5 parts could be subsituted with c6 ones. If they are then I suppose I am looking for a c6 Z06 salvage, totaled, ect., the condition of the body and interior is of no concern to me, in fact you can keep those things and the tranny for yourself and sell it elsewhere. I will however need the suspension to be intact and a few other little parts which can be discussed if a potential car comes around. I am looking to spend around 15k which may sound like a "low ball" but again if your car meets my needs we can discuss further. On the off chance the c6 parts are not compadable then I will have to settle for a c5 Z06 doner car but low miles is a must and the newer the better, I would be willing to pay 10k on the high end for one of these. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!
Sorry if there are any grammer/spelling errors, it is 4 am
First, this is the wrong forum for this discussion, should be in C6 Parts or C6 Tech. Don't be surprised if one of our Moderators moves your thread.
Second, you need to specify which suspension parts you are talking about. Some parts are interchangeable, others are not.
Also, it seems like you are only considering C5 parts vs C6 Z06 parts, when standard C6 components may serve you nicely.
Lastly, your idea of being able to buy a C6 Z06 rolling chassis for $15K is pretty unrealistic, IMHO. I would shoot for a base C5 or C6 rolling chassis.

I am sorry, I figured depending on the answer to my question this could be a wtb thread :dunno:
It was never a choice between c6 z06 parts and c5 parts, it was a choice between a c6 zo6 salvage donor car or a c5 salvage donor car, I wanted it to be the c6 zo6 but it turns out for whatever reason c6 parts do not work on the GTM, or that's what I'm told. As for listing specifics for the suspension, the list is long which is why the others who and built the GTM belive it is easier to just buy a entire wrecked corvette.
As for my "budget" sure 15k for a wrecked/salvage c6 z06 may be a long shot, but to say 15 thousand dollars is only going to get me a base c5 it outragous, lower mile "base" c5 salvages can be found by the dozens for under 5k...it's not like I was asking for an example I could drive home, and 15k for a "parts car" seemed reasonable. I've come across a few c6 zo6 salvages in the low 20's so I figured if there were any around they would be here.
