Good Deal or Not?

Good Deal or Not?
Hi Guys,
My first post and its a question for somebody (me, hehe) looking at purchasing a vette. I found a 2007 2LT with the Z51 option, 6 speed manual, that says it has 3100 miles. The asking price is $29997. Is this a good price for a vette of that year? Would love to hear some responses. Thanks

I found one here locally as well that has 4700 miles on it, and its going for 29k. I called and the sales guy said that it is a GM track car and does not carry a warranty. I am going to go look at it tomorrow, but I'm very skeptical about buying a "GM track car". I would call and get the VIN and run it trough GM themselves to see if it still has a warranty.

Thats what I'm going to do tomorrow. If the warranty is indeed void on the vehicle I'm looking at buying, I'll either ask for 5k off the price, or I'll go look somewhere else.

WOW..I know the market is very depressed on Vettes but 29K Sounds TOO good to be true. Dealer Black Book lists 07 2lt at 33.8-36.5K WHOLESALE price. BEWARE of this car and look it over VERY good before offering anything! Best of luck on your hunt! Marc

Well, here is the skinny. Any Corvette with less than 7k on the clock, that is a year or two old, that is going for these prices, is a Bondurant Racing School vehicle. They all come with the Z51 package, and on top of that, they have the upgraded brakes by the techs at Bondurant. I called GM's warranty department, and I spoke with the service director at a local dealership, and all of them have the warranty block in effect on any brake, suspension, or power train component. The warranty director at the dealership did not know if the warranty on the electrical and other miscellaneous components is still good or not, and the people that he referred me to were completely incompetent and clueless as well. So it's a toss up...you can either get an 06 which will have the warranty expire this year, or you can go with an 07 that has NO warranty what so ever. I spoke to a buddy of mine that used to be an instructor at Bondurant and he stated that they do not abuse the cars, and they meticulously maintain them. He also stated that the vehicles go trough a pretty thorough inspection after they are done with them, and if there are any problems with them they will not re-sell them due to reliably reasons, not only for GM, but for Bondurant as well. I hope this helps someone at least a bit.
P.S. If anyone is looking for one, I know a whole seller that has them for $27,500 and they have between 3,000 to 5,000 miles on them.

Dealer black book does you no good. I looked at their current auction prices trough my whole seller contact and 06s are going between 21-23 and 07 are going between 25-27 depending on the mileage and options.

I am in California. Our state has a law that requires all cars with less than 7500 miles on the odometer (new or used) to be certified for CA emissions. If I were to buy an out-of-state Corvette with 3100 miles, I'd have to make sure that it has YF5 code (CA emissions) before buying.
Other states may have similar requirements.

Yep, the one I was checking on came from a school where they used them, and I thought I had to jump on this because it was such a good deal. Damn! I just don't feel safe with buying a new vehicle that has no warranty. I also asked the sales man if they might have been a certified used GM that came with the 12 month 12000 mile warranty, and to no surprise, it didn't. Well, I guess the search continues........

I will sell you a silver/black 2008 convertible with 3Ls and nav , chrome wheels, auto, for $39K. Absolutely beautiful car. They are going for mid $40's, and the MSRP was $65K. Private seller not a dealer.

I don't think any of them are 3lt package equipped, but I will ask. As of right now he only has 07s, and he just got one z06 in. That one is going for 43k. Its an 06 with 5k on the clock.

Guys, after further looking into this, I don't believe these cars are worth it for a few reasons.
1. They were driven by novice drivers, and even though they had instructors with them, you just do not know what kind of abuse they have taken.
2. They have a warranty block on all powertrain, suspension, and braking components.
3. The carpeting on EVERY SINGLE one of them is ruined due to the fact it was pulled to yank the harnesses out due to the installation of the racing seats.
I'm holding out for a mint Z06 and soon as my ///M sells, hopefully I can get some decent money for it.
